2014 Tacoma w/ only 31,600 miles and the evaporator leaked. I took it to two places prior to taking to the dealership. The first place refilled twice and told me the leak wasn't visible from under the hood that it was inside the firewall(inside dash). Took it to a second place and confirmed the leak was inside dash by flooding the system w/ nitrogen. We could hear the leak in the lower right hand side of the glove compartment. He doesn't do any work that involves pulling the dash. Toyota Dealership told me it was most likely the o-rings around the expansion valve because they never seen an evaporator go out. Note: the previous a/c tech said it was probably the evaporator because a leaky o ring on the expansion valve would not of been that loud. After 2 days at the dealership I got my vehicle back and the damaged evaporator. The cost was $1318 after a $100 coupon. Plus the $180 bucks I spent on troubleshooting at other places. Very disappointed in this but I hope it is an isolated issue w/ my Tacoma. Tacomas are unfortunately not what they used to be... I've enclosed a picture.
