Body is rusted
- Burlington, VT, USA
I purchased this Toyota 3 years ago in Rochester NY, an incredibly snowy city that uses a lot of salt in the winter. I was living in Texas when I got informed about a recall about frame damage due to rust and corrosion. When I tried to get this taken care of I was told the dealership couldn-??t do anything about it because it-??s not in a cold climate state anymore. The frame is very rusted and seems to be very dangerous to drive. I find the lack of professionalism and disregard for my safety highly disturbing. Please let me know if there-??s anything you can do to help get this resolved.

Structure problems with Tacoma super white #040 peeling and starting to cause rust issues. Notified manufacturers dealership and they inspected vehicle stating it does have the delaminating problem as seen on over their other models. Stated this particular model and year is not included in current recall, but they have seen other Tacoma-??s with this same issue. Collision center took pictures for their records and showed me his personal truck with exactly the same issue.Entire truck will eventually need to be painted according to shop manager. Contact Toyota North America which stated not part of (SSC) and offered not assistance reference #220111-000090. Available for inspection and have pictures if needed. Vehicle has 25,000 miles and in great shape other than exterior paint peeling.

I took my vehicle in to the dealer where I always have it serviced, and asked them to do a front end alignment, since it pulls slightly and I noticed a little uneven tire wear. The mechanic said the front suspension is too rusted to align. I took the vehicle to a tire shop recommended by the dealer service advisor, and they said it is extremely rusted and sprayed some penetrating oil on it. I posted some pictures online in a Tacoma forum and everyone thought the rust was excessive, especially for a southern California vehicle where the roads aren't salted. I am the original owner. Based on what I read in online Tacoma forums, excessive frame rust was a well documented problem for earlier years There is excessive rust and corrosion on the front frame, suspension and steering, preventing proper steering alignment as normal maintenance. The problem was originally identified by the dealer last month during a routine 5,000 mile oil change service; they never notified me about a problem in any previous service, and the problem was independently confirmed by a tire shop when I tried to have them perform a front wheel alignment. There are no warnings or symptoms, and the need for a front end alignment is due to normal wear and tear

My truck is 'spruce mica green, the clear coat is cracked and peeling on flat surfaces. 2014 model. This is totally unsatisfactory for paying $38,000 for a new vehicle that has 57,000 miles on it.

Extreme rust of rear bumper. Compromised bumper. Unsafe protection in case of accident. Dangerous condition. Brought to riverhead Toyota as part of customer support program. I was told the bumper is not part of the frame and therefore it is not covered. The bumper is part of the structural safety of the vehicle.

Our truck was not on and the keys were not in the ignition or even in the truck. My husband was hooking up the boat trailer and our two year old son put the truck into nutral. My husband said the truck rolled a little. We dont feel as though you should be able to get the truck into another gear from park unless you have your foot on the brake and the truck is on. This could have been really bad scenario if we would have been parked on a hill or incline. We just dont want someone to get hurt.

Bought the truck from a private seller. Found out about the Toyota frame recall from a 3rd party. Brought my Tacoma in for the recall in 2013 but Toyota did not want to check it because I was a couple months pass their dead line. Never got a recall letter. In 2014 I had the truck frame check and undercoated by a small business in the area because I like the truck and wanted it to last. Fall of 2017 went to get the truck inspected and inspection station told me my frame was getting bad. When I got home I wanted check it out for myself to fine out if my frame was really going bad. As I was checking the frame, I was able to pass my figures through the inside of my frame. Called Toyota to report this and they are saying that since I did not bring my truck to get check in 2012 that there is nothing they can do for me. They said that it wasn't a recall but a bulletin that they had in 2012.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the windshield was replaced, but the noise continued. The contact also indicated that the back up camera would sometimes freeze and malfunction. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the cause of the failure was unable to be diagnosed. The failure mileage was 100.

Tacoma truck parked and stationary. Passenger exited vehicle but the door could not be opened all the way because it was close to a wall. The sharp rough corner edge of the bottom rear of the front passenger door sliced a passengers leg as the leg was moved to clear the door.. drivers side door is similar but not as tough or sharp as passengers bottom corner of the door. It has left a scar on the leg. On different occasions both front doors have scraped my leg twice on the drivers side door and my wife's leg twice on driver and passenger door especially when there is limited clearance from the door that is near a wall or other car. This happens on a quad cab because the front doors are cut with a straight edge and the metal is not rounded or smooth finish like the back doors. Toyota admits in a letter that the bottom rear corner passenger door is slightly rougher than the drivers side door where the injury might occur. Toyota will take no action.

Rear leaf suspension on Tacoma trg 4 door causing excessive hi-way bounce. In winter conditions the rear end would bounce and reposition the rear end causing swaying of vehicle on turns. The internal cab and box vibration may be the catalyst for the frame failures identified in prior recalls? combined with the drive shaft vibration issues at high speed hi-way travel the rear tires of the vehicle are constantly developing flat spots and require excessive balancing to avoid added rear end vibration. My vehicle has 55,000km (about 30,000 miles) on it and I am on second set of tires as a result.
