When starting vehicle (2015 Tacoma TRD Sport) on a cold morning, received check engine light and trac light. Used code reader and received code P0418 Secondary Air Injection System Control A Circuit error. I reset the code and it came back immediately. I did some research and it is a known issue. I also contacted a local Toyota Dealer (Kool Toyota) and they stated there is no open recalls on my vehicle and that they have replaced this on some vehicles but mine is not included on the recall. In review this is a known issue with the Secondary Air Injection System failing with Tacomas yet Toyota fails to do anything about it. It is an expensive fix for a known issue. Toyota has recalled 2012s and have a service notice for a fix but it is expensive. The Service notice was created because of the issue however they fail to do anything about it besides a service notice.

Due to the failure of the secondary air pump system vehicle will experience a sudden loss of power and could cause a loss of control. Toyota is aware of the problem but will not issue a recall.

The engine light and the track off warning light came on at the same time as i started the engine when i got off work. on the way home i noticed acceleration was not happening as it should when i pressed the gas pedal. I had a mechanic code it and he said it was the switching valve and the air injection pump which would cost about 1200 dollars to fix. My 2015 Toyota Tacoma only have 35000 miles on it. After during so research i found that this is a problem with other toyota truck owners. This could be a safety problem while driving in a situation where you would need to accelerate in fast moving traffic and maintain speed without slowing the traffic behind you

Secondary air injection system (sais) - one way flapper below injector valve sticks either open/closed, throws off whole sais and sets car in limp mode with corresponding check engine light code.

On three different occasions I was stationary with the gear shift in drive and my foot firmly on the break, when the RPM's suddenly revel up to over 5000 RPM and the truck trying to lurch forward. I had to Ram the gear shift into neutral to get the RPM's to drop down. The last time it happened at the bank parking lot. I came to a complete stop to let a woman cross in front of me to her car. All of the sudden the engine revs way up with me trying to hold the truck back as it was lurching forward. She thought I was trying to run over her. I don't know who was more scared, her or me. I jammed it into neutral and after a few more seconds the revs dropped down to idle again. I'm taking it to modesto Toyota tomorrow to get it looked at on August the 6th. The truck only has 63000 miles on it. The other two times it happened were in my driveway and at my storage unit. Both times I was stationary as well, truck in drive, foot on break. Very dangerous!

Emissions air pump failed with 48000 miles. Air pump not covered by emissions warranty in Ohio. Previous years(2012) covered for 10 years 100000 miles.

My truck was recently damaged from rodents, they built a nest by engine and chewed wires. After further research I found that auto manufacturers in order to go green are using soy based products on wires instead of petroleum. They are using sugar in there plastics. Rice husks in there interiors. All this stuff attracts rodents. This is unacceptable! my dealership said they are seeing at least 2 rodent damaged vehicles a week. My truck is driven daily and sits no longer than 8 hours. The total damage on a brand new truck with extended warranty was 2700 out of pocket, this damage was no covered by warranty.

Secondary air injection system malfunctioned at under 8K miles on a 2015 brand new truck. Did some research and this part seems to fail pretty early and just outside the 3year/36mos coverage and be quite costly to fix or replace. Toyota currently is not doing anything about it on Tacoma like they did with the Tundra but they are aware that this part is prone to failure.

I was driving straight away going up a slight hill on the hwy excelling and pressing the gas pedal when the power suddenly dropped and went down to 20 mph while I pressed the gas pedal even more the engine sounded like it was revving but the speed stayed at 20 mph or less.- the check engine light, vsc & trac lights all came on. I immediately pulled over and decided to turn around and not continue up the hill. While driving on the straight away (still on the hwy) the vehicle's speed improved a little but only in spurts- going upwards to 40 mph then falling again to 20 mph at least 3 times in the 20 minute drive home. The vehicle sounded and felt like it was straining for power. All of the fluids, oils etc.. was filled and in good standings- this vehicle is only 6 months old and has 4434 miles on it. I took the vehicle to the Toyota dealer the very next day and they found that this was a manufacturing problem. The codes P2445 and P2441 was found faulty and was replaced- in the report it was stated that the car is down, considered unsafe to drive because the vehicle may go into limp mode for this condition while driving. I am submitting a portion of the report with my personal information covered.

The contact owns a 2015 Toyota Tacoma. The contact stated that while driving at 40 mph, the accelerator pedal was depressed and the engine stalled without warning. The failure was persistent. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the wiring failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 5,000. The VIN was not available.

Electrical wiring was eaten by some kind of rodent - twice! dash panel lights came on, so I took it to the dealer since it was new. Dealer reported that the electrical wiring had been eaten by some kind of rodent. The repair was make ($500.53 discounted), and the first night the truck was back in front of the house - it happened again. We live in the city with many vehicles parted in the street. I have lived in the same house for over 27 years and have always had a vehicle parked in my drive way with no rodent problem. Why now" why this vehicle" according to a dealer service person (and collaborated on-line), car manufacturers (Toyota included) are trying to become more "green" and have begun using more peanut and soy products in the manufacturing of its wire insulation and rubber hoses - thus attracting animals. Also, the design of this V6 engine has a space just under the engine cover that small animals fine inviting and warm. The animal go into this space and naught on the wires that are present. My local dealer covered the second repair, and was great to work with. However, there seems to be a design/manufacturing issue that is out of the control of the dealer. My solution = fill the space with chicken wire. So far. So good.
