Purchased vehicle and then one day while washing and drying vehicle noticed bubbles on the front lower left edge of the hood by the head light. May as well mention for no apparent reason I will be taking photos and posting them. Drag my feet for a while on this issue and waited until my next scheduled oil change in March of the next year. Talked to service manager and went to dealers body shop to get an estimate. Estimate came back at $1,600 to replace hood to fix minor rust issue. Waited till late spring to bring estimate and get approval at the dealer to have repairs made. That's where the real issue begins. After being told it was an outside influence that caused this rust issue. It is more than apparent that there is no chipping in the paint or near that area but that's what they chose to tell me and I chose to tell them I will be getting rid of this vehicle and never buy a Toyota again if this is how they want to handle grievances. This might be the base model but it's still a lot of money that I'm making payments on for the next 5 years. Could I have this fixed? Of course I could fix it myself but for the amount of money I'm paying for this vehicle Toyota should be taken care of this as a factory issue. Instead they chose to cover their asses and call it outside influence. The person who came up with this reason has no clue what he's talking about her really doesn't care about the customer IE me. I find this very insulting of my intelligence.
Mind you I have painted cars since 1989 but I've given it up the trade but know what the hell I'm talking about. This vehicle was made in America most likely Tennessee. The body lines on this truck in the front by the left headlight suck really bad there is no adjustment this radiator support was not put in correctly their Quality control sucks, whether or not this has is the deciding factor that's why my hood is rusting does not matter I wanted it fixed and they refused to. Still under factory warranty mind you!! Just know that if this happens to your vehicle it won't get fixed either and they won't give a sh*t. Someone has a job denying these issues and not looking for the real cause to the problem in the process of building and inspecting. Quality has gone down the tubes buy at your own risk..
