New truck. Constantly searching for a gear at low speeds. First time, it was taken to dealer in October '19 and I drove with tech to duplicate issue. Tech agreed there was a problem. This was a Sunday and was told I had to come back on a week day so they can have someone look into it further. Couldn't come back until November 29 as I recently had surgery on November 1 and my wife refuses to drive it because of the problem it's having.
Next day, 11/30, I was told they couldn't duplicate the transmission issues and will have to contact Toyota and have them look into it which will take 1-2 weeks. I also advised the service advisor that RPM's surge while parked in idle. He said they never knew about that, but I have our email communication referencing that as well. Not happy with this and want it fixed as this is not normal. This is my 2nd Tacoma in 7 years. I want to be able drive it and be happy.

When I drive 20 miles the whole pickup vibrates. When I drive it on the street the changes come back sharply. Sometimes it hits the change and it sounds like 2 metal pieces hitting in. The brake pedal feels like it sticks. When I took it to Toyota Chula Vista, they told me that all the Tacomas do that and that is why they didn't want to change it. I had 1 week that I had bought it in that place, everything has been an experience that in my life I would buy a Toyota again

The dealer said they could do nothing for the problem, said 5 others had the same problem.Toyota also blew me off, no solution.

The transmission feels jumpy when going up hill, like it may be trying to go out.

Since day one until now (from 0 to 14k mi on odometer) 45-65mph, approx 1200-1500rpm, slight incline, accelerator tip-in, transmission shudders 100% of the time. Dealer stated they all do it. You know what? They do. The loaner they gave me also did this. It is annoying and will have me out of the truck if they can't or won't fix this. It is completely unacceptable and cannot be good for the long term. Do I need to worry about hauling my camper with this? Is this extra wear happening? No answers but alot of shrugs at the dealer. Own up to this Toyota. I see the 2020 has apparently been fixed? Tell you what, I'll bring mine in and you can swap it for one of those, no expense.
