Repeated problems with brake vibration on 2000 Toyota Tundra. Repairs completed per tsb's by Toyota dealership in 2001 under warranty. Brake vibration problem returned less than 15,000 miles later. This is a very serious problem that affects the performance of the brakes. This should be a recall effort by Toyota before someone is injured due to brake failure.

I too have the same braking problems as every one else. I now have 65,000 miles and have had rotors turned once and just installed new front rotors. Also replaced front and rear brakes. Now Toyota say the will do the tsb for a $200 deductible. I want it done for nothing. I won't stop until they do it right.

My 2000 Toyota Tundra has a recurring brake issues that have been ignored by the dealership in nc, as well as corporate Toyota. I have had the front rotors machined in the past while the intermittent rear brake lock up has been chalked up as "unable to reproduce" by the dealer. So, to this day it has gone unrepaired. At this time, Toyota tells me that all of my braking components need to be replaced; however, they will only pay for 50% of the costs ($2500), since my warranty has now expired even though I have only 34,000 miles on my truck. The Tundra's brakes have been well documented as having severe problems, but a recall has not been issued. I feel this truck is unsafe and I will not subject my family members to such a vehicle.

I have a 2000 Tundra with about 28,000 miles. It vibrates when the brakes are applied. The brakes have been repaired four times starting at about 8,000 miles; however, the problem recurred. The dealer told me the front rotors have been replaced twice. They have not been replaced. They were grounded three times. Toyota issued a front brake technical service bulletin (tsb) on 03/10/2000 applicable to the 2000 Tundra. Toyota issued a rear brake tsb on 10/17/2000 applicable to the 2000 and 2001 Tundra. Toyota issued a rear brake tsb on 09/16/2002 applicable to the 2000, 2001 and 2002 Tundra. Toyota issued a front brake tsb on 09/16/2002 applicable to the 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003 Tundra. According to Toyota written information the front brake problem has a defective caliper assemblies. The rear problem is brake drums with insufficient mass and defective adjusters. (I got tsb and repair manual information on techinfo.Toyota.com after a $50 subscription fee.) I presented all this to Toyota's dispute settlement mechanism under the magnuson-moss warranty act (15 U.S.C. sections 2301-2312 and 16 cfr section 703). The mechanism is administered by national center for dispute settlement (ncds). The Toyota representative admitted during the hearing that the brakes were non-conforming/defective. The arbitration process was grossly flawed. Most defective was the arbitrator based his decision on a non-applicable state law instead of the magnuson-moss warranty act. Ncds told him to consider the non-applicable law. Magnuson-moss is very specific if they can't fix it after a reasonable number of attempts; they replace it or buy it back with no depreciation. Toyota's California executive office position is since NHTSA has not issued a recall, the vehicles are still usable and magnuson-moss does not apply. NHTSA should do something about the above. 2000 Tundra - uncontrollable vibrations upon braking. In 3/02 I brought truck to Toyota dealer to address problem. They machined front rotors and replaced front pads. I questioned if this would be effective. Problem continued within 6 months. Dealer now offering to replace all front brake hardware for $520. Being screwed in California.

When driving at high speeds and brakes are applied vehicle shakes. The shake gets worse when vehicle is going down an incline. The manufacturer is aware of problem and has issued a service bulletin, but this does not solve the problem.

Tom superitts&lee hammler from K.C. Corp. Says nothing wrong with truck!there boss steve eisbamrth will now buy me tires but won't admit the is a problem. This offer didn't happen untill I told them I was turing this in to NHTSA, then they wanted to keep me quiet. I am ready to turn this truck back to them because of there bad customer service and bad product. Bottom line on safety corners on wet pavement like on patches of ice when I was involved in accident, brakes vibrated, tires slid, and on impact rt. Bumper bent in to tire rt. Fender creased both air bags did not come out. This truck should go in for further testing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (dot number: Ap72ew1123 tiresize: P265/70R16)

If you look on the internet, you will find that this is not an isolated case. There are probably hundreds of people with the same problem ( truck vibrates, especially when braking). Toyota insists that this is normal.
