differential housing rusted so badly it is seeping oil
I noticed an oil spot on the driveway at the rear of my truck. Found oil around the differential housing and thought it could be the plug. I saw the housing was deeply rusted. After removing layers of rust and cleaning. I saw oil seeping from 2 locations. Rust has penetrated the housing enough for oil leak out. haven't driven it until I find a solution to the problem. I think Toyota should bear responsibility for using such inferior metal on this truck. The truck also had rust holes in the frame and the spare tire was lost because the bracket holding it rusted through. The truck has never been off road and is mainly driven to work.I haven't got any help from Toyota on the other rust issues. I'll try again with this one.

My problem with this truck is the same as everyone else on this complaint registration site.
1. Rear differential leaking oil thru the housing metal and not any seals!
2. No resolution/solution suggested from contacting local dealer. Dealer stated he had not heard of this problem from any other Tundra owner. This is bull shXX!
3. No resolution/acknowledgement from Toyota corporate. Vehicle is out of warranty and this is considered normal wear and tear.
I live in SW Ind and we do not have bad weather in winter like Michigan. Some snow 10-15 yrs ago but not now. 1 - 2 times per yr. streets are salted, if that. The truck has approx. 96,000 mi. and no other big problems. Frame replaced in 2016 by Toyota.
Questions: 1. Has anyone else considered a class action suit against Toyota? I received a parts only estimate from my mechanic of $2000 for used parts. Installation could be $500 or more = $2500 - $3000.
2. Does anyone have any information about the steel used to manufacture housing. Is this the same steel used in the frame? Is the company who made the frame, the same company who made the housing.
