Tundra SR5

  • Automatic transmission
  • 140,000 miles

My husband was backing his 2005 Toyota Tundra into our driveway, with his lawn trailer hooked onto the back, when it accelerated at a very high speed. He pushed on the brake pedal as hard as he could and the tires kept spinning. He put the truck in park and the tires still spun for a few more seconds. I sent an email to Toyota and they said to take it to a dealership. The dealership would not even look at the truck without us paying an inspection fee and they said any repairs would not be covered by Toyota, because the truck was out of warranty and the 2005 was not included in the recall. I know Toyota has had problems with their automobiles and unwanted acceleration. We did not have it looked at by the dealership.

Tundra SR5

For the second time my husbands 2005 Toyota Tundra has accelerated at a high speed without his foot on the accelerator. He was stopped at a stop sign with his foot on the brake when the Truck suddenly accelerated at a high speed. He said he had his back up against the seat pushing on the brake as hard as he could and it still kept moving forward. He had to pull out in front of a car and luckily the car didn't hit him. He called Toyota and they once again referred him to a dealership who told him he would have to pay for an inspection and any repairs they had to make because it is not included in the recall and no longer under warranty. Toyota has the worst customer service of any car maker we have ever dealt with! He is risking his life driving this truck, but we can't afford to junk it and buy another one right now. Toyota doesn't care.
