Tundra Limited V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 103,231 miles

Several months ago truck start lunging forward while stopped at a light, it was only once in awhile. Lately last few weeks it has been happening more often like once a day. While stopped at a light the truck will lung forward some times so hard I think the car behind me has rear ended me but had not. I noticed there is no dip stick to check transmission fluid and I read the transmission should last the life of the truck so what is going on? Why is it lunging? And how do I know if it is low on transmission fluid or another problem?

Tundra SR5 V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 89,000 miles

When I first start my 2005 Tundra in the morning and drive it a few hundred yards to the first stop sign, it will lunge forward after stopping at the stop sign. It seems to only do this while the engine is still cold and hasn't had a chance to warm up.

Tundra SR5 4.7L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 25,000 miles

This happens intermittently, but when I come to a stop and waiting at a stop light, the truck lunges forward and a hard clunk comes from bottom of truck. It is almost if the truck is trying to get to first gear roughly. Almost like when the clutch engages on the a/c.

Is any one else having this problem. I am going to take to the dealership this weekend, but I am sure I will get the run around. They usual do.
