The contact owns a 2005 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated the check engine light illuminated and the vehicle would become resistant when driving uphill. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where a diagnostic test showed a faulty transmission solenoid. The dealer stated that the entire transmission would need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 91,000.

Tundra 2005 SR5 double cab. Purchased on March 2005 and I noticed very early on sometimes a hesitation to accelerate from a stop or from low speeds specially when waiting to make a turn. When this happens I press the gas pedal but the truck does not move or moves very slowly and then a jump to start moving normally again.

2005 Toyota Tundra double cab SR5 transmission mount has 4 bolts and a plastic centering piece 3 of the bolts had worked their way out and the 4th was half way out centering piece was loose and floating in the crossbeam tightened the one bolt went to bob tyler Toyota in pensacola, fl. All that was asked of mewas did I have the extended warranty. I said no I thought the Tundra was covered for 100,000 miles. Besides I considered this a safety issue because my transmission could have become disconnected and caused a wreck or worse. My Toyota Tundra 2005, V8, 4.7L, 4X4(83,000 miles) lost its transmission power while driving on the highway and the check engine light came on. The transmission power came on and off all the way home. Lunging each time it dropped off and came on. I brought it to the dealer who told me I needed a new transmission at a cost of $4000. It was displaying P0986 code. The next day brought it to a transmission shop. They found that the wire connector (15 pin) that goes from the transmission to the ECM was corroded and the pins were broken and not making contact. Its design is clearly defective. It is not protected and is located in a place where it is exposed to all the salt and water resulting in the pins being corroded. Information communicated from the computer to the transmission and back is interrupted or inaccurate. I found this information on a website at the same time the independent transmission shop discovered what the problem was. They gave me a run around with only frustration and stress. I see this problem occurring with all these trucks in any part of the country where it is wet. The car is dead. We called a technicain and he checked the transmission, he said it was a failure. He added transmission fluid so we could drive the car to power Toyota in irvine, ca. The mechanic at this dealer confirmed that the transmission died. This car was purchased in january2005, and itwas a Tundra 6 cylinder 2005.

2005 Toyota Tundra double cab, V8. When cold engine idles higher than what I would consider normal. When stopped at stop lights and the like in normal driving the transmission will jump or kick sometimes causing vehicle to move forward...especially when A/C is on. When cruise control on it will downshift to passing gear and accelerate way more than normal, tach goes to near redline, when encounter the slightest of grades...also happens when cruise is disengaged to slow and then resumed. Transmission shifts improperly when slowing down such as when slowing to make a turn...when apply the gas going through the turn the engine will rev before slipping back into gear. I began noticing these things immediately after purchasing vehicle in Nov. '05.

The cruise control on my 2005 Toyota Tundra downshifts the engine on the slightest incline. It jumps from approximately 2100 RPM's to over 3500 RPM's. this causes the vehicle to loose traction on just a wet pavement, not raining just wet last visit to the dealer this was part of the issues I wanted them to look into. The only thing I got was "that's just the way they work". this is a definite safety issue and needs some attention real soon. Toyota which owns suburau has the same transmission problem as this Tundra, I had one of those also that did the very same thing. Not only a safety issue, but it also causes much more wear and tear on the parts. There is also issues with the way the transmission shifts, sometimes it does and other times it don't and always unpredictable. The converter lockup locks up at the slowest speeds, anywhere from 20 to 55 mph. In city traffic this causes you to downshift constantly and once you do you have to get right back off the accelerator and or get on the brake. It's crazy to be "that's just the way they work".

I have a 2005 Toyota Tundra. At times, it doesn't shift up properly and the engine revs up very high, but the truck doesn't accelerate. At times, when I am coasting down a hill, it will shift down, causing the truck to slow down. I took it to the dealer and was told that the transmission is completely electronic and that happens sometimes. I feel that this is a factory defect. Last week, I was trying to make a left turn at an intersection. I pressed the pedal but the truck didn't accelerate. I could have been hit by an oncoming car. I've come to realize the this is a dangerous defect, as well. I hope eventually, they asses this problem and issue some kind of fix.
