Toyota Tundra frame is completely rusted through. Purchased vehicle in 2016 immediate after warranty expired and previous owner did not have the frame replaced. Rust damage on the frame was not bad. We had it undercoated for protection. Now there are rust holes and Toyota will not take responsibility for the extreme amount of rust on the faulty frames. The 2006 sequoia frames were recalled due to excessive rust, but the Tundra were not, even though they have the same frame. When we took it to the dealership they told us they are not responsible for it and then marked our vehicle as "undriveable" in their system without our permission. We now have a vehicle that is worth $0 that was worth $8,500. Toyota corporate also refused to do anything to repair the vehicle.

I recently had to have some body work done on my 2006 Toyota Tundra. The body shop owner said that he saw the frame was extremely rusty and in his opinion was a safety hazard. He said he remembered that Toyota had a recall for rusty frames previously but he did not remember what years and models were included in the recall. He suggested I contact Toyota. I did contact Toyota and was told that my vehicle was included in the recall but that the recall had expired in July of 2015. I purchased this vehicle new in 2006 and have been the only owner of the truck. I was never notified of this recall and had no idea there was a problem with their trucks. After speaking on the phone with a Toyota repnad being told they would not do anything for my truck I sent an email to their headquarters and they responded that they stood behind their original response. I do not understand how a safety recall can expire. The safety problem will always be there until fixed. I feel I am now driving a dangerous vehicle and feel that Toyota should stand by whatever the original remedy was.

The truck bed is showing rust spots which apparently is an issue with Tundra. Talked to the dealer and Toyota and they told me it is not under warranty and there is nothing they will do.

2006 Toyota Tundra. Consumer stated the vehicle incurred frame rusting. The consumer stated the vehicle was recall for frame rusting. The local Toyota dealer performed the treatment last February. However, an inspection performed by an independent mechanic discovered that only part of the frame had been treated and there was serious flaking/erosion of an untreated portion of the frame.

The contact owns a 2006 Toyota Tundra. After the vehicle was repaired according to an unknown recall, the running boards on both the driver and passenger sides fractured. The contact mentioned that the failure was due to excessive weight being placed on the running boards. The dealer refused to repair the vehicle and would not claim any responsibility. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 70,000. Updated 10/8/14

Toyota recalled for frame rust. Vehicle taken apart and frame replaced. Vibration present between 30 and 70mph. Vibration gets extreme when not under load (ie slowing down). Has been back at dealer 6 times to try to identify/repair. No resolution. Toyota customer experience department recommended I take recourse. Contacted state attorney general who is trying to mediate a resolution. Ag office recommended I file a complaint with NHTSA as well.

My 2006 Toyota Tundra is experiencing extreme corrosion of the rear axle assembly and skid pans. I've had a mechanic inspect the damage and he concurred that the rust is far worse than would be expected for a vehicle of this age. The metal is pitted and flakes of rust are falling off of the rear axle housing. I contacted a local Toyota dealership to have it inspected but they would not even look at the vehicle because it is no longer under warranty. Failure of the rear axle housing poses a considerable safety risk. I purchased the vehicle with 40,000 miles on it and I live in an area where salts are used liberally during the winter. I've gone to great lengths to wash salts off my truck as soon as possible, yet the rust continues.

The frame and suspension components have an abundance of rust on them. Flakes of metal are dropping/pealing off and the rust has spread to all parts of the frame and is prevalent around welds on the suspension parts. This concerns me due to the welds being the main component that bonds together the suspension pieces. The frame is showing an unusual amount of rust for such a young vehicle and poses a safety risk to me.
