Tundra

The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Tundra. While driving approximately 40 mph, the check engine, ESC, and vsc warning indicators illuminated, the vehicle started to lose power and would not accelerate. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing or repairs. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 148,000.

My check engine light has come on. As well as the lights stating the vehicle stability control and traction control systems have been disabled. The transmission will not shift out of third gear and the vsc being off is causing an unsafe driving condition due to slipping tires around corners at normal speeds. Upon checking the engine code P2714 and P0751 I have come to find out there is an internal Toyota technical service bulletin circulating their dealership service departments dating back to November 28, 2007 when this issue was first discovered. The bulletin is named TC017-07. Also upon further investigation I have found numerous posts about this code and the exact issues my vehicle suffers from on multiple Toyota Tundra message and internet chat groups. This is a very serious issue which could easily cause loss of life or property if these vehicles with this issue are suddenly prone to the vsc and transmission acting abnormally. This issue for me came up very suddenly with no prior warning as the dash lights came in while driving. I will be asking totota to fix this issue at their cost with the remedy they describe in their service bulletin. The remedy they recommend is to replace the transmission and reprogram the ECM.

My vsc off light has been blinking when I started my truck when I got off work at 3:00P.M. central time. My check engine light is on as well. I brought my truck to auto zone for a diagnostics test and came up with code P2440. My vsc off light came on one day not loo long ago, but went off so I thought nothing of it. Loss of power.

I started my truck up yesterday just randomly to go to the store. As soon as I started it a bunch of warning lights went off. The check engine light was on, the 4WD lo light was blinking, the vsc off light was blinking, and the traction control light was on. I then turned the vehicle off and let it sit for a few minutes. I turned the truck back on and the same warning lights were still on. I then pulled out of my driveway to go to a friends house who has a little computer that tells you what errors are going off when your check engine light is on like an autobody. As I pulled onto the main road and pressed on the accelerator the truck would barely go. The engine sounded like it usually does but the truck would hardly accelerate. When I finally got to my friends house he plugged the computer in and it gave me an error code of P2440. Once I looked more into it I found that it was the air induction pump that was malfunctioning. Further research online I found thousands of people have had the same problem with Tundra's with mileage between 40K and 60K. My biggest concern is why the vehicle is not accelerating like it supposed to. Many other people have the same concern. That is a huge safety hazard to me. What would happen if that would just all of a sudden shut my engine down to the slow crawl that it is doing if I am on a turnpike in heavy traffic. I would believe that there would definitely be an accident which I am sure it has happened before. I am just wondering if there is anything that can be done or maybe something that has already been done. Like a recall that I am not aware of.

ABS, trac and 4hi warning lights all on while driving. Vehicle ABS and trac control all ceased to function. Was driving in slippery road conditions. Almost lost control of vehicle. After stopping vehicle, 4hi would not engage. This is 4th or 5th time this has occurred over the past 2 years. Mostly occurs during cold weather but not always. Have taken truck to dealer after these occurrences and 2 of the times the dealer has been able to replicate the situation. When truck is in state of flashing lights, the truck always returns to normal when you turn off vehicle, wait and then restart it. Dealer has replaced parts now 4 times and still having the same problem

The Toyota Tundra 2007-2010 carry a major saftey issues all over the net, under error code P2415 or P2440 or P2441 or P2442 series of errors, which prevent the truck from accelerating or stopping properly for that matter. I was towing when the check engine light came out while driving ( I mean driving) on the hwy, towing somewhat a heavy load & all of sudden while going uphill the engine just lost power instead of me going forward I got stuck, and if it was not for the other drivers being aware I would have been severly injured or killed along with my four kids, to make a miserable long story short, I find out this proplem is amajor issue and a defect in Toyota Tundra, and it cost consumer like me $3500 up to $5000 to fix it involve an air supply unit to the engine to shut down.......I need to get this issue to be looked at I have four kids were riding with me that day.... I cant believe the damage I avoided & the concept behind this stupid design.I urge you as an american to look into this issue I am providing you a link for that matter. And please let me know what action I can take against Toyota to fix this saftey issue. 2007 Toyota Tundra V-8, 5.7 L. 4 lo light blinks, vsc light blink, check engine light on continuously all three of these lights are coming on. I can take my battery off and they reset. Per Toyota disconnect battery and it will re set. The truck will kick you down to 40 mph or slower when this happens even if you are running 60 at the time. Was told the problem was my secondary air intake. And a tire sensor problem. But that doesn't explain the sudden surges in motor or dieing for no reason. Talked with Toyota and they said they would fix it. To date not done. This has happened for the past 2 months. Have to disconnect my battery several times a day just to drive my truck. I have almost been hit more than 3 times due to this problem. Went to pull out to cross 3 lanes of traffic and it kicked down, had the gas pedal floored and the truck would barely move. My truck now has 40,000 miles and it still is not fixed. My A/C went out, said it was the fuse, what about the blower motor that has never worked right, or the truck wants to die all the time, electronic start wont work was told my battery was no good yet they won't honor the battery because it is now out of their warranty due to them taking so long to get it in and having me to disconnect the battery all the time. Toyota called to day and said my truck would be done in a couple hours, then less than a hour later they said it wouldn't be done because they had ordered the wrong parts and that I would need to bring them a battery.

My 2007 Toyota Tundra hesitates when you are stopped at a light making a turn or slowly rolling around a corner and making a sharp turn. No matter how much gas is given it retards it self and then lurch once the wheels start to straiten up. I was told it is a computer issue due to the antislip features. But it is gross over correction at best. And dangerous for sure.
