In December of 2010 my vsc and check engine light came on .I took it to the dealer and was told that my Brake Actulator Assembly went out.Being that I only had 42,000,miles on it i thought that it was only something minor. The cost for the part was 2,900 not including the labor. The dealer then told me that it was nothing that they could about it because it was not covered under warranty,However in the past i have had brake problems with my truck while under warranty and they drug them on until the warranty expired and left me stuck with the bill.I Got on the internet and found out that Toyota sent out a special bulletin on 2007 tundra about the brake actuator assembly.I Feel that I should not have to asurb the cost of over 3,000 plus dollars for Toyotas mistake.
Update from Oct 31, 2013: Hello, back again its Nov,1st 2013 still same M-----Problem at 68,000 miles. Took my truck to several dealerships around the city and was told three different things One dealership which was Mike Calvert Toyota told me that my brakes needed resurfacing ,and that a speed sensor was out, work was done one week later same problem. They told me that my brake Actulator Assembly was out and that it was not covered under warranty and they would not work with me.They said that because I didn’t do enough business in their service Dept., they couldn’t work with me.But keep in mind I purchased two other Toyotas from the same dealership. The next dealership which was very informative told me that my Brake Actulator was fine. They reset the light three days later same problem. After being feed up with the dealerships I took my truck to a local mechanic that I known for years. He keep my truck for several days and told me that a speed sensor was out and that it was a dealer part only. Replaced the part no check engine vsc light on for two years. On October 2013 vsc check engine light came on again then went off. My inspection was due sense my check engine light was off I took it to be inspected and it failed. Two weeks later I got a letter from the air commission stating that if I didn't get the problem fix within 45 days they would deny my registration.Thats when I took it to the third dealership. They told me that my water pump was leaking, Drive shaft was leaking and that I needed a Brake Actulator Assembly. The water pump, and the Drive shaft seal was covered under warranty, But not the Brake Actulator Assembly. The cost to fix was 2,300,two days later same problem. Called the dealership they told me to bring it in.I feel that Toyota should reimburse all of my D--- money for something that they know is a problem and stop Bsing people around.
Update from Nov 2, 2013: Nov.1st 2013.picked up my truck for the third time. The service advisor told me that the reason my vsc check engine light came on this time was because the service technician didn't recalibrate it, and that they did it and I shouldn't have any more problems with it .On my way home everything worked fine, got home dropped off my son went to the store guess what happened next. The D--- vsc check engine light came BACK on, I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT. IF they don't know what the hell is going on with the dammm truck they should give me my money back and absorb the cost keep the truck and use it for parts.I"M feed up with it can some one please help me,at this point I don't know what to do.henry.phillip@sbcglobal.net
