I bought this vehicle used with 50,000 miles. Over the last 12 months the radio has begun to cut out. When this happens there is no volume control and blue tooth stops working. Until recently I just had to turn it off for awhile and it would work but yesterday it apparently stopped for good. I have previously talked with the dealer who indicate it would take a new radio to fix it. They talked like it would cost in excess of $500. Not sure I want to invest that much in a radio. Obviously the radio is flaky.

Radio is stuck on high volume. Cannot be adjusted and the radio has to remain off. From what here other people are having various other problems with there radio along with the same problem I'm having. If it comes on and will not shut off I will be at the dealership telling everyone that walks through the door what to expect with my windows down and radio blasting away!
Update from Aug 22, 2015: I'm tech type person and deal with industrial automation and programming everyday. I called the Legends Toyota, K.C. where the truck came from. They would not discuss anything over the phone and for $120.00 they would be glad to hook it up to the computer to see if has any codes stating what failed. The only thing they said you may have to replace the radio and I know that would not be cheap for a factory radio and CD player-plus. I told them I already had it working again and that there cheap Chinese software and products are catching up with them. They had accelerator problems in the past which had to do with there cruise control and drive by wire, do to software and programming issues. They won't talk about that either. Fix: removed the positive battery lead for about 5 minutes then reattached. You loose all your preset station and so on but the radio has to reboot which clears the problem. Problem is still in the software but it fixes it for now may still come back and may not reset.

My truck will so be 5 yrs old and I'm still having issues with the radio. Radio shuts off and on, display is jumbled at times. Display starts flashing and now all I have to do is just touch the front plate (no buttons or knobs) and it will turn on/off. The dealer is now telling us that they cannot fix it because it is no longer covered under warranty and will charge us &160.00 just to look at it. I spent more money on gas driver back and forth to have them replace it 3 times already. Toyota should stand by their product and recognize when there is a problem and there should be a recall on it.....very very unhappy customer in Louisiana

Going on number 3 radio. Wrote letter to owner of Lake Charles LA Dealership about how unhappy I was that I had to keeping returning about the radio malfunction. Never heard from him, so when I called to tell the service department about it, I was told that I would need to bring it in for them to look at it. Ok another hour drive and my (very upset) husband with me this time. Then to be told that they would have to order another radio. :( My husband ask to speak to the owner and after the owner walked past us several times without saying a word my husband got mad. We was finally taken into a room and they decided to take a radio out of one of the new trucks that they had on the lots. Since this experience with them, I will not have to think twice about where I will not buy a truck from on my next purchase!

The first time the radio went out it was at 7,469 miles. The truck was under warranty and the dealer replaced it. Now the truck has roughly 45,000 miles on it and the radio has once again gone out. It suddenly got stuck on the max volume level and will not adjust. Several of the buttons will not work on the radio. The dealer is now telling us that they can not fix it because it is no longer covered under warranty. This is ridiculous since this is the second radio. I have seen several complaints about these particular radios and I think there should be a recall on it. It is a problem and it needs to be fixed. This is not something that can easily be replaced with a new radio or a different kind. You pay 36,000 dollars for a vehicle and you expect Toyota to stand by their product and recognize when there is a problem and then fix the problem.

Radio cuts off at random, won't come back on, fidelity is awful, display goes blank or jumbled. Two radios, both faulty, and looking for a third at next sevice. Toyota needs to fix this problem, I have had better radios in cars costing half of the $36000. Tundra. The dealer has always been top notch, but admits Toyota has a problem with these radios.

I bought this Tundra used with 60,000 miles on it. I used it for almost a year with no problem but then the radio began to "cut out" and the entire sound system, phone system was dead. I could turn it off and let it sit for awhile and try again and it might work for another week or maybe for an hour. I began to look at "replacement radio costs". Before buying a third party radio I checked with Toyota and found they had an exchange program for only $200. Less than the cost of a third party radio and much nicer with the integrated CD changer in it. I was surprised at the "value of the radio" when they told me a core charge of $1500 was required if I did not return the core. I looked on line and found a video on swapping the radio so did it myself in 15 minutes. Unfortunately the new radio has lasted less than two months and is now cutting out. I'm heading back now to Toyota to swap it for a new on under "warranty".
