They extended the warranty for the Air Injection Pump System 10 years or 150000 miles. Of course it went in my truck yesterday and my truck is 2 months to old and has 106000 and they will not warranty it. They know they have problems with this and extended it. I can not believe they will not even pay 1/2 of having it fixed. I will never buy another Toyota again.

AIR INJECTION VALVE/PUMP FAILURE AT 61,000 MILES AND TOYOTA SAYS SORRY THAT RECALL EXPIRED.
I NEVER RECEIVED ANYTHING IN THE MAIL ABOUT THIS RECALL. THEY SEND A CARD (ONE CARD) ABOUT AN IMPORTANT RECALL. NOW THE TRUCK IS DUMPING POLLUTION INTO THE ATMOSPHERE.
MY TRUCK IS NOT USED ON A REGULAR BASES, GARAGE KEPT. 61,000 ORIGINAL MILES SINCE 2008. I BELIEVE THEY SHOULD REPAIR THIS. THEY MADE 1 ATTEMPT TO CONTACT ME..I NEVER GOT A NOTICE. REPAIR COST IS AROUND 4,000 DOLLARS.

One day my engine light was on. Went to auto parts store had code read p2442 I think. Called local dealer. Took it in week later. They said warranty had been extended for that. It took half a day to fix but didn't cost anything. They said if I kept driving it would have went into limp mode, but never had any problem other than that.

Engine Trouble Codes Set By This Problem
P0418, P0419, P2440, P2441, P2442, P2443, P2445, and/or P2447 Check engine light goes on. Soon truck is in limp mode which is really irritating. I don't trust the local Toyota dealer in Trinidad, Colorado to fix anything and I am unable to drive it in limp mode to Pueblo Colorado. I take the negative cable off and reset the computer and I can drive til the next time, but I never know whan it is going to go off again therefore making it to Pueblo is next to impossible. I got two price quotes from the local shops here that I trust and they want over $3500 to fix the problem. Air injection system, two valves, and two pumps, labor $3500. With my truck so low of mileage I can't afford this and it is NOT WARRANTED.
I have discovered that someone is making a module to illegally bypass the air injection system! You only need this system when initial cold start up. Cost for the dummy module to bypass the computer $150. Sure beats $3500 which I can't afford.

Toyota refuses to step up to the plate for a poor design. Trying to dump cost onto the vehicle owner. This is part of the emissions system. Poor program causes vehicle to go into 'limp mode' which means it's not usable. T-SB-0329-08 was issued long before most models experiencing problems were left dealers lots. Estimated repair cost $2,500.00

I entered my truck to run to the store. As soon as I cranked up my truck the check engine light came on. I connected my scanner. The secondary air injection pump was bad. It took me a week to find the part online at a reasonable price. Then, another three to four days for shipping, and another three days to get it fixed. I had to pay AAA to have the truck towed to my mechanic's house, who lives an hour away. I brought the truck from a Toyota dealership. They assured me that the truck had been fully inspected with no finding of any problems. However, six months later this happens. This part should not of went out on the truck I paid 18,700 cash for. I have a warranty, but it doesn't cover the exhaust system. Toyota needs to recall this part asap. There are plenty others reporting the same issue.
Update from Jan 18, 2022: I got into my truck to make a run to the store. The check engine light came on as soon as I cranked up my truck. I connected my scanner. The secondary air injection check valve bank one was bad. It took me a week to find the part online at a reasonable price. Then another three days or so for delivery. I had the truck towed an hour away to my mechanics house. I had purchased the truck around six months earlier from a Toyota dealership. I paid $18,700 cash for this truck. The salesman assured me that the truck had been fully inspected with no problems. I researched the issue. There are plenty others who had the same issue around the same mileage when it occurred with their truck. I have a warranty. However, the warranty does not cover the exhaust system. I had to pay everything out of pocket. Toyota needs to recall this problem asap.
