I have a 2009 Toyota Tundra with the 5.7L engine and 6 speed auto transmission. Intermittent shifting occurs as slow speeds, with the vehicle acting like the transmission is in neutral. This has caused serious concern when trying to accelerate and could lead to a potential accident. I have also had this occur on slick surfaces, with the engine revving up before the transmission engages. This has caused extreme tire slippage and risk of losing control. I have had this truck into the dealership three times and have had their quality team look at it, with no satisfactory resolution. Other owners of Tundra are also reporting this same phenomena, and concerns, with no resolution from Toyota. We all need your help to get corrective action put in place. An accident is waiting to happen, if it already hasn't.

The contact owns a 2009 Toyota Tundra double cab SR5. The contact stated that the transmission was not shifting properly and when attempting to accelerate, the vehicle would independently downshift to 1st gear. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where they added transmission fluid but the failure was not corrected. The vehicle was then taken to a second dealer who stated that there was too much transmission fluid in the vehicle and advised the contact to replace the transmission. The current mileage was 31,324 and the failure mileage was 30,000. Updated 8/30/11 the consumer stated when depressing the gas pedal at approximately 10 mph. The engine revved up but the vehicle failed to accelerate for 6-7 seconds as the transmission searched for the correct gear. Updated 10/03/11
