Tundra Platinum 5.L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 114,840 miles

I purchased a certified used Toyota Tundra Platinum Truck from a local Toyota Dealer with 32k miles already on it. I have been looking for this truck for some time. Traded my Acura car towards the purchase. The car came with a 100k mile warranty. I drive pretty extensively up and down the east coast of the United States for work. In 2 years with regular maintenance in oil changes, tire rotation and other services provided through Toyota, I developed an engine knock at the 112k mile mark. I took it to my Toyota Service Center and they reported to me that the rods may be tapping and they said I should think about buying an engine for replacement. Wow ! Are you kidding me. They informed me that for $13k dollars they could replace my engine with a used certified one with 40k miles. My question is simple - If I bought a certified Truck with a 100k mile Warranty and it had 32k miles on it, I believe it should still be under their Warranty until 134k miles. Correct ? I find it very unnerving that they suggested to me very quickly that I was out of TIME. I will continue to research this episode and push further for the answer to Toyota's Problem with the hidden engine knock problem.

Tundra Platinum 5.L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 114,843 miles

I bought a certified used 2012 Platinum Tundra with 32k miles and 2 years later with regular maintenance and a cam seal leak fixed by the dealer, I have found a very hard rod knock from the engine. I took my truck back to the dealership to have the oil and filter changed with 114.8k miles on it at this time and was told I will need to replace the engine. I believe something isn't smelling right.

Does anyone know any issues with the connection of the cam seal leak and the rod ready to blow. The dealership said it would be approx. $14k to replace the engine with 40k miles on it.. Really? Again, I'm smelling "not my problem" from the people involved. Who can I reach out to assist me in researching the cause of possible repair maintenance? I appreciate anyone's help.

Tundra Limited 5.7L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 46,000 miles

I have a Toyota Tundra 2012 5.7 V8, I bought it pre-owned from the dealer last Sept 2015,but early 2016 some times when I turn the engine on I hear a knocking sound under the hood by the passenger side. It's a loud knocking sound. I tried to check online to see if someone else is having the same issue and I was surprised that a lot of Toyota Tundra owners have the same issue.. Can someone tell me what's the best course of action?

Tundra Tundra 5.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 4,000 miles

I bought a 2012 Toyota Tundra Crew Max brand new because a few friends i know have them and love the truck , anyway around 4,000 miles i started getting a engine knock , i took it back to the dealer ,left it over night because the engine needed to be cold ,i picked the truck up the next day and was told the knock was normal,I've owned a lot of trucks and i never had a engine knock in a new truck ,i also lose a quart of oil every 4-5000 miles .,I'm really pissed off at toyota and i am embarrassed to drive this truck when i have a friend in the truck ,it sounds like a diesel. Is anyone else having this problem and what is my best course of action with toyota to do something about this problem thanks garym
