I upgraded from my 2017 Tacoma to a 2024 Tundra because of a growing family and the as advertised 2024 listed the same (if not better) fuel economy than my Tacoma. I am the truck says 17 city-22 highway mpg, I've not seen anything remotely close to that. Im currently getting 14 city 16.5 highway. I understand there are outside factors that could be at play, however I'm not even getting the city mpg on long trips. Having paid roughly $65k for this truck I think it should deliver as advertised. I've expressed my concern with my local dealership and was instructed to manually calculate the mpg to make sure the truck was showing the correct mpg. I can assure you that the mpg the truck is displaying is, unfortunately, correct. I've also filed a complaint with Toyota corporate and they pushed it back to my local dealership. No kne is taking accountability for this false advertisement. Frankly, I'm disappointed Toyota can continue to sell vehicles with fakse information. This reminds me of the VW diesel debacle years ago when VW finally got exposed for wrongdoing. I know many others have expressed this same concern. I hope NHTSA takes this matter seriously and forces Toyota to make this right somehow.

The fuel gauge will randomly move to full and stay there even if the tank was almost empty. You can be at half tank and then next day it shows full and it won-??t reset on its own. If you don-??t catch it you will think tanks full. This could easily strand someone who assumes they have a full tank. This occurs when vehicle is parked and off on restart it shows full.

Holiday trip from Alabama to New York on [XXX] the fuel gauges (2 warning systems) malfunctioned. Since new the fuel gauge always read 415-420 -??Miles to empty-?? after fueling, no wait. In the trip at one point after fueling the gauge started showing 24 miles until empty on a full take. This was after driving and stopping for lunch or snacks somewhere along the way. Not knowing which gauge was correct made us stop more frequently for fuel. After this event the -??Miles to Empty-?? has never went back to the original 415-422. The miles to empty has been sporadic from 24, 100+, 200+, 300+ And last night 370. I filed a complaint with Toyota and was given a case number. The dealer says -??they-??ve never heard of it-??. There are reports of this problem starting in 2022 and up models all over the internet but the dealer says -??you can-??t trust people on the www-??. Actually I do trust most of the Toyota Tundra users that are reporting these problems. This problem could cause drivers/ families to be stranded for various fuel reasons. As stated for my 1100 mile trip to and from NY it made me stop more frequently for fuel so I wouldn-??t chance being stranded with my family of 4. I shared a video and photo with Toyota when I opened the case. Now I am driving around helping them to figure out the problem since they refused to provide me a loaner car so they could research the problem. At the time of the initial event the gauge stayed at 24 miles to empty until I stopped for fuel. After getting the next tank the reading was sporadic until at some point going to the 300-??s reading but has never returned to the 415-422 reading that it had been for the full year prior. The safety issue I have is that my truck will display hesitation in moving forward or accelerating. I have been in a few intersections trying to turn left and when pressing on the gas pedal there is a delay in responding to the gas pedal being pushed. I-??ve discussed this with the dealer and was informed that this is normal behavior. The dead pedal has me very concerned for my safety and the safety of others while driving my truck.

This is my 4th time filling out this form. Fuel gauge and miles to empty will reset with the fuel gauge reading full and the miles to empty recalculating without putting fuel in the vehicle. My computer owners online account shows I have a fuel level of 153%.This truck has 2781 miles on it. The fuel gauge has reset itself 6 times in that mileage. Have now contacted Toyota Customer fulfillment and now have a case number for the problem. My dealer then contacted me within an hour of getting that case number. Will now hopefully being getting closer to a solution.

Fuel gauge continues to reset to full with the miles to empty resting without putting gas in the truck. First reported to dealer and looked at on 7/12/24 with no solution. Second incident reported and truck left at dealer on 7/29/24. with no solution. 2 fuel gauge resets occured and reported to dealer on10/2/24 again with no solution except Toyota knows the problem but has no fixes. Last resetting of fuel gauge has occured on 10/9/24. I have been informed that other Toyota Tundra trucks have been into this dealership with the same problem of the fuel gauge resetting without putting any fuel in the truck. This vehicle should come with a reliable and working fuel gauge. This can become a hazard if running out of fuel. Dealership has now looked at this problem 3 times! 5 resets of the fuel gauge in 2315 miles.

Repeated resetting of fuel gauge to full without filling the gas tank. Have reported this problem and dealer tried to remedy but apparently not fixed. Truck filled on 9/18/24 and everything normal. Fuel gauge and miles to empty reset on 9/24/24 after having driven 59.5 miles. MPG stayed the same. Fuel gauge and miles to empty reset while truck was running after driving 25 miles since previous reset on 9/26/24. Watched the miles to empty roll on screen. Since previous dealer service can no longer use steering wheel button to reset the MPG. Can have a false sense of available fuel and cause potential accident if truck runs out of fuel on highway or get stranded somewhere.

Fuel gauge is showing full when the tank is half empty according to odometer. When the vehicle is parked even on a slight incline the fuel gauge resets to full no matter how empty the tank is. Reported fuel gauge problem previously in electrical category. Fuel gauge will reset itself to full without filling the gas tank. This has happened on 3 occasions with only 1000 miles on the vehicle. Have been to the dealership on several occasions with no permanent solution so far. First attempt at fix was to reprogram the combination meter and the gauge did accurately show the full level. However the problem reoccurred and brought vehicle back to dealer for 3rd trip and left it for 3 days. Dealer replicated the problem but corporate Toyota said it was due to the position of the sending unit in the tank. Can possibly cause serious problems if I run of of fuel on the highway or local road. Will have to monitor the fuel until Toyota comes up with a fix hopefully.

I previously owned a 2022 Toyota Tundra that had the same fuel gauge malfunction. It was repurchased under the Texas Lemon Law since Toyota was unable to provide a repair after a year and a half. Now I have a 2024 Toyota Tundra with the same malfunction. The fuel gauge on the dashboard will reset to 3/4s to full tank of gas after starting and stay that way until you refuel the truck even though the tank may only have 1/2 tank or close to empty. With each restart of the engine, the fuel gauge still reads 3/4 to full tank. Toyota has been unable to fix this malfunction since the 2022 Tundra model year, 3 years now! SAFETY HAZARD: I do not know how much fuel is in the vehicle. Its like putting a piece of tape over your fuel gauge and driving around and guessing when to fill the vehicle with gas. Right now I track my fuel by resetting my odometer each time at the gas station and refilling at 400 miles. Towing would be a whole new guessing game. DANGEROUS ACCIDENT POTENTIAL: Imagine being on the highway and going about 65-70 mph and the truck run out of gas and shutdown. You are now driving a powerless vehicle that may or may not have steering and trying to cross over lanes on the highway to get to the shoulder if available. Not sure at night time if the outside lights on the truck would also turn off? Toyota put out a TSB for the 2022-2023 models and it did not fix the malfunction. Now the 2024 Tundras have the same problem and there is no fix for Toyota dealers to even try on the vehicle. We are just being told, no fix at this time---3 years! ATTACHED PHOTO: I have attached a photo of the fuel gauge after I started the truck. DTE is 387, Trip A: 316, Fuel level 3/4s TRUCK ACTUALLY HAD: DTE of 205, Trip A: 316, Fuel level 3/8s Appreciate the safety concern before a Tundra owner has a serious accident.

The fuel gauge as well as DTE resets to full when vehicle is parked nose up on slight incline. My driveway is a few degrees pitched and I park so that the nose is pointing slightly up. After going through 40-70 miles on a new full tank of fuel my fuel gauge reset to full 3 times 3 days in a row. Each time I did the trick to get the fuel sensor to reset/re-read everything while on flat ground. Video was sent to local dealer showing that the fuel gauge is resetting to full incorrectly. Toyota tried a software fix on 2022's only that did not fix the issue. They have not tried to fix it since the 2022's came out. 100's of examples of this can be found all over online. If you park on a steeper incline the tank can reset to full even if you had 1/2 or 3/4's of a tank left. This is dangerous as you could run out of fuel while driving down the highway. Its especially dangerous if your significant other borrows the vehicle and assumes the truck has a full tank of gas when it may have much less.. To my knowledge the fuel gauge and DTE will not correct itself on its own either (has not for me at least). The only way to correct it is to actually fill up with fuel again or do the workaround while on flat ground. This is a safety issue so it is surprising Toyota hasn't fixed it especially since the Tundra has been out for a few years now.

The problem is faulty fuel gauge reading. My vehicle was reading between 1/2 and 3/4 on the fuel gauge. I forward parked on a driveway with at least a 30 degree incline and shut the truck off. When I returned to the truck and started it, it showed FULL. I drove it about 10 miles and shut the truck off for at least 5 minutes. When I turned it back on it still read FULL.
