J'ai une Toyota Yaris 2007 bleue et le vernis transparent a commencé à se soulever vers l'année2019. Vraiment pas contente. Est-ce que Toyota vous a aidé pour corriger ce problème ?

Clearcoat flaked off the roof, hood, and several points on the side of the car.

An annual claybar, polish, and wax routine did not prevent the clearcoat failure. It's a flaw in the clearcoat applied to the car from the factory, and makes an otherwise solid car look ratty.

My semi garaged Yaris clear coat started peeling on the roof. The damage has extended to the door handles as well as the hatchback. Repairs are cost prohibitive and Toyota will not admit it is a manufacturer defect. I have been a loyal Toyota owner I had a 2005 rusted frame Tacoma, which was fixed finally on a recall. The Yaris issue is the same as Tacoma’s and now 4 runners, Toyota used substandard parts to gain greater profits at the sacrifice of quality.

clear coat peeling clear coat peeling

I first noticed the clear coat peeling off my 2007 Yaris in 2011. The peeling started on the roof and eventually spread to the hood, along the sides (around the door frames), and rear bumper. After the clear coat peeled off the paint started to turn color and I was told eventually it would wear all the way down to the primer.

I notified the dealership and was informed the warranty has passed and they referred me to their body shop for an estimate which was in the neighborhood of $2,200. I was also told the peeling was due to weather conditions and I should not park my car in direct sunlight. Living in the Phoenix area I figured no car is safe from the heat. If the weather was the cause wouldn't everyone have an issue. Driving around town I noticed other cars (blue Yaris) that have the same issue. I suppose we are all guilty of parking/driving in the sun.

To this day the peeling continues...

I bought my car a few months ago used from a dealership in town. Today I come out of school to find half of my car peeling and it just looks awful. I have seen the other comments on how Toyota has a 3 year warranty on their paint which is utterly ridiculous! Now I am waiting on my dad to get home....on his birthday to tell him that I need to have my car refinished. This was not a subtle thing it happened fast. Nobody at school touched my car. Toyota needs to fix this issue because I'm not the only one this is happening to!

I drive a metallic blue Toyota Yaris Hatchback (2007 model). I bought it in 2010.

In 2011 the clear coat started peeling off. I've been given the list of general excuses like "sun damage" or "bird dropping damage"....BUT NONE OF THEM APPLY TO MY CAR! My Toyota Yaris was never exposed to too much sun and it has always been kept in good condition.

I went to Toyota and asked them what would they be able to do but I was told that the paintwork guarantee was only 3 years meaning I wasn't covered and they would do nothing about it. HOWEVER I started noticing a number of cars like mine (TOYOTA YARIS) affected by the same thing. I have even had 2 different individuals approach me to ask me if Toyota had also told me to get lost.

Now I understand the paintwork guarantee is only 3 years but I find it strange how that the paintwork started peeling in the 4th year??? And the fact that a number of cars like my model are experiencing the same thing proves to me that it is in fact a quality slip up by Toyota SA.

I love my car and I love Toyota, I think that Toyota's are brilliant cars. BUT I think this is unacceptable. How can they deny anything being wrong with the paint if there are so many people being affected.

I'm disappointed.

We purchased in 2007 a brand new Toyota Yaris. Early in 2015 the clear coat started coming off the roof. Over the next several months it got worse where the entire roof is affected. In May of 2015 the clear coat was peeling off the pillar panels. June 2015 the hood is peeling. We have a 2000 Chevy Blazer with over 200,000 miles on it and the paint is still in perfect condition. What's up Toyota???

I have a 2007 Yaris Hatchback 2 dr. and I have had the same problem with roof and bumper paint/clearcoat peeling. The color is red and it is not from lack of applying wax. I use McQuires wax or Blue Ice wax every three weeks but roof still peeled. Need advise on how to get Toyota to admit there is a paint problem on the Yaris and have a recall for paint.

Yaris

  • 90,000 miles

I bought this car in 2010. It had 90,000 miles on it. The clearcoat was already having issue (that's only after 3 years!). The guy I bought it from had already taken it to the dealer to get the clearcoat touched up. I don't know how much that cost. Since then the clearcoat on both doors (just below the window and on the door handle) has begun peeling. Also, the clearcoat is peeling on the hatchback, below the rear windows on each side, on the hood, and on the fender in the front (both sides).

I noticed the clear coat was peeling off months ago. First believing someone threw acid at my car (thanks sis) or even eggs. Then I realized it was not eggs it was something else...wear and tear? this soon!! I know I live in Phoenix, AZ but the extreme I have ever seen my car go thru was blurry looking headlights.

Aside from something that I did to my car, I don't like how the clear coat is peeling off like that. I see online how people are commenting about the clear coat coming off so quickly. This is an issue! Apparently, I am not the only one going through this and wondering why this is happening to their vehicle less than 10 years old. Something needs to be done because spending money on something like that sounds atrocious.

clear coat peeling clear coat peeling

My car's clear coat started coming off over a year ago. It seems to me that paint on car should not just start lifting off. Toyota says they only guarantee paint for 3 years. 3 YEARS!

I'm sorry you have either done a terrible job painting and coating this model of car or used poor products to have this happening within 5 years of purchasing a car. I have taken excellent care of my car, done all suggested maintenance, kept it clean, and this is what I'm dealing with. Very disappointing! They should recall this paint job and fix it.

Yaris YR 3 DR Hatch 1.3L

  • Manual transmission
  • 22,369 miles

I have had my 2007 Yaris 1.3 manual (Silver, 45,000kms) and this time last year I noticed the paint work on the roof starting to bubble and crack. I have washed my car with many Kwashiorkor products and cracks are now on the boot around the rear windows. The roof is nearly a different color of silver that looks like the clear varnish is cracking, fading off over 2/3 of the roof. I have through about getting it reprinted but after reading the complaints on-line about the Yaris paint work I have decided to place complaint here.

I thought it was my fault by not spending money to have car professionally polished every so often. My car has very very low Kms. I am on a single income, brought the car as it suited my needs and budget. Are there not certain standards that all paint work must meet? I will be contacting Toyota next week to see if they will fix it as it seems to be faulty paint work.

My car is out of warranty as it is now nearly 7 years old. Yet only has 45kms on it to date. I will keep you posted. I have not gone to dealer where I purchased it from as I thought I did something wrong. I will write to Toyota head office next week and see what they say. I will also up load pictures on paint work and cracking paint.

Toyota, Please repaint/recall Toyota cars (Yaris) that have clear coat defects or provide clear warnings that these models bubble and peal after just three to four years of driving. I have been a loyal Toyota customer and have never experienced or seen such an unattractive flaw in the Toyota brand. I hope this is not what is to be expected of all Toyota models. Please investigate this issue and offer solutions.
