I was approaching some railroad tracks and applied the brakes to slow down, then the car slammed on brakes itself. Spoke with VW and they said to turn off Front Assist if it was on (it was). No other solution was offered. We've had the car for two years and this is the first time this has happened. After reading more, it sounds like a common issue that VW will not acknowledge or fix without significant cost to the owner.
