Atlas SEL R-Line 4-Motion V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 8,000 miles

The issue with the steering that is rated as being 8.4 on the severity level that VW is aware about but acts as though they are not. Dealer service rep., service manager, general manager and owner are aware of and have repeatedly lied and dismissed our safety concerns and have offered no courtesy vehicle and stated that the vehicle is safe to drive! I found them to ALL be rude, discourteous, dismissive, and completely unconcerned about the issue much less our safety.

I understand vehicles will have issues and parts will be needed but to continue to allow us to drive the vehicle with no offer of a courtesy vehicle until it is resolved I find to be totally reckless. As of now, the vehicle cannot be driven due to the severity of the problem and I have contacted VW customer care only to get NOTHING but “we will check on the issue and see when the part is available”. It’s been over a week now and I really don’t expect to hear anything out of them anytime soon.

Under Alabama lemon law they have 30 days to resolve the issue before any litigation can proceed. I sincerely hope that this does not happen but judging from their entire customer service experience I am sure it will. I see that there are other people having the same issues and if it is not resolved in the time frame under Alabama lemon law, we will most certainly be contacting a lawyer. Hopefully if it comes to that there will already be a class action lawsuit in which we WILL DEFINITELY participate in. Out of my 50 years of living I have never dealt with such complicity, rudeness, lack of customer care or concern for customer safety.

Bad thing is ALL we asked for was a courtesy vehicle until the issue is resolved but apparently that is too much for them. They have not only lost our business but our recommendations to friends and family that like the vehicle. If and when we get it fixed we WILL BE TRADING it in on another Mercedes as you cannot beat Mercedes quality, service, and definitely customer care. I DEFINITELY WOULD NOT PURCHASE A VOLKSWAGEN VEHICLE IF YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT IT! It’s a relatively nice vehicle, the sales team are nice (sure they are , they are trying to sell a vehicle to you ) BUT YOU BETTER THINK LONG AND HARD AS TO WHAT KIND OF CUSTOMER SERVICE THEY HAVE. This has been and still is a nightmare for us, especially myself as I have bone marrow cancer and really don’t have time to deal with this. Not trying to give a sob story but it is what it is!
