It started back in June 2018 when I purchased brand new VW Atlas SE With Tech 20 miles on it. I brought it home, a nice ride, I love it. The next day I came back from work and noticed burning sensation. And a rattling metal noise from 2nd to 3rd gear driving 15 -25 mph. So I was like it could be engine burning off new car you know... A week went by and same exact smell coolant coming from engine bay and it’s strong and that annoying noise is still there during normal driving.
So I started tracing hoses from tank and radiator - there's no leaks on floor nothing but strong smell... so I took it in to dealer. They took it in, nothing, no leaks. They pressure tested everything - it's fine, don’t worry, just windshield washer bottle cap is missing some part, they fixed it. The noise problem - it was suspension, we have adjusted suspension, it’s great now... Okay, I drove vehicle home exact 6 miles from dealer to my residence - the same smell and same rattling grinding noise is there. They don’t have clue what’s going on with vehicle until I loosed half of the coolant bottle.
So I kept taking vehicle in because vehicle is not fixed - they neglected issues and on carfax report says 12 times in 2 years for same issues . .. let me go back to the coolant loss ..so I took it in and said I have coolant loss with no leaks. And half of the bottle is gone - got to be head gasket. They just won’t admit and I have experienced loss of power, a hard shifting vehicle had around 10K miles give or take, so the head gasket is blown. They replaced head gasket and while they worked on engine they did not put fuel hoses back the way it needs to be so I had fuel leak. I could have set my whole family & house on fire, thanks to idiots, and driving 6 miles home I wasted little over 1/4 of tank. I contacted them back to bring the vehicle in. So they can take look at it... The fixed fuel hose was not put on correctly... And now a couple weeks after catalytic converter is gone due to massive coolant burns. Due to clogged catalytic converter they noticed power loss and they replace catalytic c.
Back to annoying transmission grinding rattling noise. They looked at it 12 times, every time at the suspension. How stupid they need to be - it’s transmission not suspension. They ruined my alignment. Adjusting suspension and my tires were gone before 20K miles short time after wards so no fix for this problem... so they offered to buy Atlas back (LEMON) and replace with new one or money back either way I wanted to choose... so I decided I’ll take new 2021 and this one comes with same. Problems issues side effect what it takes to fix this peace of work ...instead of new face lift it would be better design new engine jeez... I am very disappointed - 2 Atlases same problems.
Here we go y’all, ready to hear this?
