I love my Bug but I am totally upset with VW for allowing this to happen to all Bugs. I know of a few people with newer Bugs who have the same problem with the headliner completely hovering over their heads like me. Seems like the adhesive and foam like material they use is just horrible. Just the headliner itself will cost $330 and labor is....... I don't even want to start. I called VW corp. to complain and they didn't even care to even explain the issue. They told me my car warranty is expired, I will have to replace it myself. Yes that would be nice, but I will not invest in a costly headliner when it will dissolve in a couple of years. VW interior sucks. And is highway robbery. And not to mention my car was made in Mexico. Not Germany. So much for German cars. Never Again.

headliner is falling down headliner is falling down headliner is falling down headliner is falling down

The headliner started falling down around the reading lights first, then at the rear corners.

Headliner specialists estimate it will cost around $300 to replace the headliner (the backing material and fabric both need replacing).

I got some construction adhesive and was able to get the stretchy fabric to stick back up to the cardboard-like backing material. It looks like hell (see photos), but I can't afford to fix this defect at this time. I had to do something because the flaky backing material was making a big mess all over everything! And the whole headliner was going to come down, if left to itself.
