headlights/running light work intermetintly and burn out

If the head light or running light fails, beat on the center of the head light driving it back. This may correct it for a while but due to the poor connection it WILL CAUSE the lamps to over heat and burn out. It is a discussing piece of engineering and I am surprised they continue to just replace bulbs rather than have a recall on the head light connection.
