One month after I purchased my certified pre-own VW CC the brakes failed without warning. They literally worked at one moment, and then totally failed while I was driving with no warning signal of any kind. I managed to avoid the vehicle in front of me stopped at a red light, and I was fortunate not to cause another accident since I had to run through the light into a 6 lane state highway. Fortunately there was no accident/ no injuries.

VW initially indicated they would perform a full diagnostic on the failed part (vacuum pump), and associated equipment to provide me a written assurance that there would be no increased potential for the failure to occur again. They also represented they would offer me something "to make the situation right" and to keep me satisfied as a new VW purchaser. Neither has occurred despite elevating the issue to the CEO of VW in Michigan. One would think they would be interested in knowing the cause of the problem without my prompting, since it could result in catastrophe.

Instead they have indicated they have no intention to review the problem or provide me with any written assurance. They will also not fulfill my request to perform a reverse sale. They wrote me a letter indicating they heard about the unfortunate incident, and stated they would continue to back their warranty. Since when do I need them to tell me they will support the warranty they are obligated to provide as a term of the sale?

I could go on and on about the misrepresentations and unprofessional conduct I have come to expect from VW. The result: I am stuck with a vehicle I no longer want with no assurance the manufacturer has exercised every available tool to ensure its safety.

There are so many quality vehicles out there. I would suggest choosing one other than VW.
