On certain vehicles, there could be an interruption in electrical power to the fuel pump control module. This could result in the fuel pump running continuously, resulting in a drained battery and/or a no start condition, or cause a loss of motive power while the vehicle is in motion, which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.

My car has left me stranded twice. It all started when my fuel pump started to leak gas all over my car. Once I got the fuel pump replaced. My vehicle ran fine on my way to the store but when I came back to my car it turned over and let me pull out of my parking spot but then died when I went to put it in drive in the parking lot. I attempted to jump my car but it did not work. I replaced the battery on 10/9/17 and it appeared to solve the issue. On 10/29/17 I drove my car up North to payson. It ran completely fine until I shut it off to go to the creek. When I came back to my car it would not turn over again. I bought a battery and replaced it yet again. This time the battery did not help get the car to turn over the only thing that showed up was an epc light. I left the car over night and came back to it the next day it started up just fine with no epc light. I took it to a repair shop and they were unable to diagnosis anything wrong with the car. I picked my car up on Oct 30th. It ran fine with no hesitation up until the morning of 11/10/17. While driving on the freeway my car lost power and would not accelerate. I was able to pull it to the side of the road. My epc light, check engine light, and battery light all came on. The car would not turn over again. I reached out to the dealership and they told me to contact customer care through Volkswagen. When I reached out to customer care all they told me was to go back to the dealership and that they can't do anything for me because the recall is not complete. They have no offer of a loaner car or anything while I wait for them to fix the issue. So I'm left with a car that randomly shuts down and loses power from time to time. This is not acceptable.

While driving on the highway at a high speed the car stopped with no power. There was no warning. I understand it was the fuel pump. I was almost killed in high speed highway traffic with no warning

I started the engine and sat in my car a few minutes before taking off when my car died. I waited a couple of minutes and I started it again, but again it died. The fuel pump control module failed. Luckily I wasn't driving the car. I had to have it towed to my house on a sat evening, then again to the dealer on Monday. Apparently there is a recall on this. Dealer installed another module from the old stock which can fail again. VW said they would reimburse me but they are waiting until they have a solution. I don't know why I have to wait for them to pay for the damage. I incurred the cost and by the grace of god I am not dead. This is a very dangerous situation when the fuel pump doesn't receive electricity to pump fuel into the system

Takata recall - this recall was issued in February 2016 upon which I was told they did not have the parts available. Now, one year and eight months later I'm receiving notifications about bringing my vehicle in to be repaired. The most recent states "this is a serious issue that must be taken care of - defective components can cause the airpag to deploy improperly, shooting metal fragments ant drivers and passengers, which can cause serious injury or death." I'm concerned that it took nearly two years to resolve this issue, especially given the statement being sent out via postcard. Secondly, now there is yet another recall for something related to the electrical power to the fuel pump module. I have already taken my vehicle in multiple times for a related recall, one that left me stranded and having to be towed before VW ever even notified me. Absolutely unreal!

The contact owns a 2012 Volkswagen Cc. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 17V509000 (fuel system, gasoline); however, the part for the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. While driving approximately 55 mph, the vehicle suddenly stalled without warning and completely shut off. The contact was able to steer the vehicle to the side of the road as it drifted. The contact had the vehicle towed to alexandria Volkswagen (107 w glebe rd, alexandria, va, 22305; 703-684-8888) where it was diagnosed that the main fuel pump and the high pressure fuel pump failed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure/issue and informed the contact that the vehicle was not covered under the recall at the time. The manufacturer provided a case number. The approximate failure mileage was 89,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that the vehicle would crank when attempting to start the vehicle; however, the vehicle would fail to start. The contact had the vehicle towed approximately six times to the Volkswagen of panama city dealer (3605 E 15th street, panama city, fl 32404; 850-252-4732) where it was diagnosed that the starter and battery needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The contact replaced the module on the vehicle and the vehicle functioned properly; however, shortly after, the failure recurred. The contact took the vehicle to a certified mechanic at pepboys who tightened the module, causing the vehicle to function properly. While driving approximately 10 mph, the vehicle suddenly lost power and stalled. The contact had to push the vehicle to the side of the road. After observing the vehicle, the contact realized that the vehicle overheated. The contact cooled the vehicle with coke before being able to continue to drive the vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and informed the contact that the repair parts would begin to be issued in October of 2017. The approximate failure mileage was 45,000.

It has been over one year since the airbag on my vehicle has been recalled and Volkswagen has yet to do anything. The turbo also seems to be malfunctioning.

The vehicle smells of gasoline all the time and most notably when it is turned off. The smell is strongest in the engine compartment. There are no leaks anywhere and as an afterthought I have changed to premium gas. The dealer changed the fuel pump as a remedy to this issue, but it never fixed the smell. The smell is at the engine compartment and this has occurred for the last year and half -ever since the car reached 40,000 miles and it now has 65,000. The car is getting terrible fuel consumption and I am worried the car is going to self combust at some point while sitting in the garage.

Most recently, the electronic power control warning indicator illuminated as the vehicle was being driven. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump and battery needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.

My vehicle has been a problem since I started my lease til now. I have constant problems with my light bulbs even after they are replaced they go out quickly and often. The car has stalled on me twice and cut off twice. I have multiple trips to the service center for the sme things fuel injector pump and the check engine light. This is a fairly new car. I am now stuck with the car for another five years. I will never purchase another volkwagen or refer anyone to buy one either. I would like my history to be pulled and reviewed as a audit. I truly believe I bought and lemon and it has cost me lots of money. I truly would like these problems investigated for the sake of every volkwagen customer.

Upon cranking up my car, the "epc and check engine" light both came on simultaneously. I then noticed that the car failed to accelerate even with the gas pedal completely depressed. Then the car stalled. It was slow to crank up again, but the engine finally turned over. When I took the car to the dealership, they told me that high pressure fuel pump was bad. The car is only 2 years old and has taken only 3 long distance road trips during my ownership(less than 6 hours driving on each trip). After researching online, I have found several other VW Cc owners that have experienced the same exact problem. The unpredicted stalling of the car is very dangerous safety issue. What if I had been on the highway when this happened.

At 8:40 am cst on 11/6/2012. While commuting to work at 55 mph road in the middle of freeway. I lost functionality on the gas pedal. The vehicle would not accelerate when engaging the gas pedal. Gas pedal was rendering non-functional and in-effective. There was heavy soot/smoke from the exhaust primarily almost like fire and some smoke from under the hood, this is a new under warranty VW Cc 2012 4 door sedan. Driving on the left lane with a semi behind me when this occurred. It created a very unsafe near miss incident. I am fortunate that a collision did not happen when I lost power to the wheels. I pulled off to an exit and when I floored the gas pedal, there was intermittent power stalling the vehicle to less than 5 mph. However, there was heavy soot/smoke from the exhaust primarily almost like fire and some smoke from under the hood, with parking lights on I drove 2 minutes and pulled to a parking lot. My vehicle was towed to a nearest VW dealership upon talking with VW road side assistance. They appear to be inconsiderate to the magnitude of the situation I dealt with and the impact and severity of the technical failure. I don't know if this systemic in VW Cc. This technical failure can easily cause accidents. My near miss is a testament to it.
