The Power Steering keeps failing while driving. It is available for inspection, ASAP. This is a very dangerous hazard to lose the ability to steer the vehicle at any speed. I have not taken to my mechanic, yet. I have read all sorts of problems with steering since the Takata Air Bag Replacement Recall. Ever since the AirBag Replacement, many of my warning lights have been illuminated. The Dealer told me it is due to the Sensors on my Tires. I see they were previously recalled and now I have a problem with them, too. Right before the Steering Fails, I hear a gone and the Red Steering Wheel Light illuminates. I am then forced to slowly get off the road, barely able to turn the wheel, turn off the vehicle and re-start the engine to get the Power Steering to Re-Set itself. It is happening more and more often. Just went to Doctor appt Friday and it happened five (5) times going to and from Doctor (14 mile round trip). I see Dealers are telling people it is a Clock Spring and they are charing up to $ 6,800. to repair. My car only has 56,000. miles on it !!!

There was a recall on the steering wheel clock spring on the Volkswagen Cc. Instead of replacing the clock spring in my car, there was a temporary 'rubber bamd' placed on the steering wheel clock. The following week, the entire steering wheel clock broke and the air bag light came on. I cannot use any of the functions on my steering wheel. The dealership claims that the problem was fixed according to the recall and it's nothing they can do about it.

VW clock spring recall investigation driving down the road at 35-40 mph and the car beeps with "error: Airbag" then the steering wheel made a weird noise. The horn and controls on the steering wheel are not working. I took it to the vic bailey VW dealership and they said it was the clock spring that needed to be replaced. I know there is an investigation into the previous recall and I believe that my car was affected but not included in the recall.

Upon attempting to start the vehicle, an error light turns on and message displays the steering column is defective and continues to flash/beep. If I try to drive the vehicle, steering feels loose when driving. Sometimes vehicle does not start at all and states active immobilizer, sometimes the car dies just after starting and steering column locks up.

The contact owns a 2012 Volkswagen Cc. While in park, the air bag warning light illuminated. In addition, the contact stated that all the controls on the steering wheel failed to function. The vehicle was taken to a dealer who diagnosed that the steering wheel clock spring and steering column needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 33,000.

Turning the steering wheel at low speed as I was exiting a parking lot and heard a metallic sound and steering got very tight, several warning leds presented on the dash display indicating air bag failures. All features incorporated with the steering wheel were inoperable including the horn. Took vehicle to VW dealer, service tech codes indicated the sccm module/clock spring has failed and needs to be replaced asap at a cost of ~ $ $800

Error air bag error was the error that appears on my display when I turn on car. Horn & all buttons on steering wheel stopped working. This is on the VW Cc year is 2012. I am told by service department it is due to a failure of the clockspring hence I must replace the clockspring with control unit and part only is almost 450 dollars, and labor is additional.

I have never had any problems. Never in an accident or had anything replaced. All maintenance up to date. Started the car with no issues. Continued to drive going 35mph normal driving conditions and multiple warning lights appeared. ABS. Power steering, emergency brake, and air bag. Took it to closest auto repair to make sure nothing dangerous was about to occur. Quick diagnostic and they said all problems are electrical. Nothing physically wrong with the car and will likely need new sensors and clockspring.

Vehicle was being turned around in a parking lot when a clicking noise was heard. The air bag light illuminated and all of the steering wheel functions (I.e. horn, radio controls, etc.) stopped working. Took it into the Volkswagen dealership and was informed that it was the "clock spring " in the steering wheel was in need of replacement.
