A very well taken cared for VW CC with less than 50k mile and I recently discovered a coolant leak. I determined the plastic water pump was leaking and research told me not to replace it with another plastic unit. Purchased a new aluminum water pump and had it installed to resolve the issue. Disappointed with VW, which is not standing by their product and to design such a poor part. VW vehicles built in Europe do not have these plastic water pumps. I was not happy with having to pay out-of-pocket to replace such a poorly designed part. Step up VW and reimburse those of us who had to deal with this problem.

Really not a huge deal but I definitely expect a water pump to last longer than 40,000 miles.

I bought this car in Florida 10 months ago. So far it has cost me $2300 IN repairs! That is not counting what the water pump ($1164) and the heater core ($700) is going to be! There have been several complaints on this on line but no extended warranty or fix! Also read there is a mfg. defect on this water pump. Somehow I'm sure this is related to the heater core being "clogged" also. Because of this, I have no heat in the car and it's winter in Pittsburgh!
