I bought the car certified used from dealer with about 25000 miles on it. Warranty up at 60000 miles. Dealer said timing chain broke, sheared off a spark plug and catastrophically destroyed the engine! They talked with factory and they were able to only get them to offer $2000 towards an $8000 replacement. Wasn't going to accept this pathetic offer, but saw the class action lawsuit with my year vehicle on the list, so i figured eventually i would get a big chunk of the money back.
In the meantime, after about three weeks I got a text from the dealership saying they had bad news. Apparently the" new " engine was installed, the mechanic started the car and after TWO MINUTES of running it make a loud noise and BLEW UP! WTF ? Not really what i wanted to hear, not really helping me stay calm.
So now after TWO MONTHS I have the car back, but I see the class action lawsuit settlement lists only 2008-2012 CC vw. I had to take money from my retirement account which isn't much to start with. I won't be able to sell this POS and get my money back because nobody is going to buy a car that has these kinds of problems, including me had I known about it. Which is why I'm sure VW tried to keep it to themselves.
They say that the timing chain problem only involves the 2008-2012 models of CCs but I think if they are supposed to last for 120000 miles, and mine only lasted 64000 miles, the defect has not been corrected! This $#!T is going to give me a blown head gasket!
