The car is been burning 1L of synthetic oil per every 5000km since it was bought in 2007 brand new, I have read that this is a common problem in some of these cars because on some of them the piston rings were not installed properly when they were manufactured. Each piston ring has a gap and they should be in opposite direction to the next one so the oil does not flow through the piston and inside the combustion chamber in big amounts, but for some of these cars the piston ring were installed in the same direction so the oil flows inside the combustion chamber with no restriction. VW considers a decrease in oil of 1L per 1000 miles to be normal...to me this is just an excuse to not cover any repairs at all. I think this leaves a lot to say about VW and personally I would never buy a car from them anymore. My car now has 66.000km and I am trying to sell it so I can buy a brand that I can really trust.
