2009 Volkswagen Eos 2.0T tsi engine timing chain tensioner failure due defective design. Car did not start and I had to change the engine at my expense. Now I am not sure if the new engine (used) has the new design version tensioner or the old. I have investigated and this is a very common failure. This most engine code is ccta and is used in many VW cars 2008 and up. Volkswagen sent a boletn explaining this failure and change the design of the tensioner on 2012 this failure may cause catastrofic engine failure and destroy it. VW has not taken responsibility for this issue.

Timing chain tensioner system failure I'm reaching out in regards to legal advice regarding timing chain tensioner system failure on my 2009 Volkswagen Eos. While traveling with my two young sons for their spring break, my car completely failed (while in-motion), putting both my life and the lives of my two children in harm's way. The time and resources spent getting my car towed to the mechanic, emotional trauma/stress, and loss in productivity has been a blow for my family- not to mention the cost to repair (which I have yet to receive the invoice). Upon researching the issue, it was upsetting to learn that this was a common problem for Volkswagen- to the point where they've faced litigation on numerous of fronts. There are also reports where VW adjusted their production/manufacturing process in 2012 to address 'said issue'. yet VW has yet to do what's in the best interest of their consumers that own models prior to 2012. I don't expect Volkswagen to give me a brand new car, but I do expect them to take responsibility for their products. If the timing chain was faulty and they were well aware, VW should be responsible for the cost. This experience has emotionally traumatizing for my kids and I on multiple fronts, and for us to be hit financially is an even more of a slap in the face to my family by the manufacture. Please let me know if you are able to assist/advise. I look forward to hearing from you - - thank you!!!

My wife was turning into a parking lot when the engine suddenly made a noise and lost forward power. She was stuck in the middle of an intersection and could have been killed! we spoke to our mechanic and he diagnosed the problem as a failed timing chain tensioner. This caused the engine valves to impact the pistons and caused catastrophic engine damage. We paid $2706.25 to buy a used engine and $1500 in labor for the installation. Our mechanic said this is very common with this engine and that he see this happen with engines that have low mileage. Our had 80125 when this happened.

The contact owns a 2009 Volkswagen Eos. While the vehicle was stationary, the instrument cluster malfunctioned and failed to work properly after the vehicle was repaired per NHTSA campaign number: 16V913000 (service brakes, hydraulic, electronic stability control). In addition, the check engine indicator illuminated without warning and the ABS failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was 42,000. The consumer referenced the airbag recall stating that the manufaturer refused to offer any assistance for ABS module.

I purchased my 2009 VW Eos from a dealeriship "as-is" and I have had to replace the maf sensor, throttlebody had to be serviced with in the first year of owning. Oil leaking from engine onto the water pump. Now, the ABS and traction electrical system is completely messed up and I can't drive it. Estimation of $2500 worth of work.

Car experiences sudden loss of acceleration, nearly causing accident from cars behind. This has happened sporadically in motion on city streets and the car has been back to the dealer (VW world nptune NJ) several times. First time they could not replicate problem and nothing was done, second time they replaced several components at cost of $2,000 but that did not fix problem and now it back at dealer and they are asking another $1300 for repairs.

The contact owns a 2009 Volkswagen Eos. The contact stated that the vehicle drove roughly and hesitated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who was not able to replicate the failure. On another occasion, while at a stop and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle failed to accelerate and the accelerator pedal required excessive force. In addition, the vehicle stalled on several times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was awaiting a diagnosis. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

Check engine light came on, when taken to dealership they say I have a faulty intake manifold runner and it needs to be replaced. If not the vehicle may/will stall. This same part was recalled in the 2006-2008 models of this vehicle and several others. Are the 2009 models affected? the vehicle has been maintained all maintenance has been done to manufacturers recommendations.
