ABS and brake lights are on, car shifts into neutral on it's own. Feels unsafe to drive, because of the neutral shift there is no power. I have had to pull over to the side of the road and restart the car.

When the transmission gets hot, the temperature sensor overheats and automatically puts the car in neutral when you try and change gears (from drive to reverse). The dashboard lights start flashing the transmission lights. The car must be turned off and restarted in hope it will work again. There was a recall for this and apparently it was completed in 2009. VW told us they will not fix it again.

Car experiences sudden loss of acceleration, nearly causing accident from cars behind. This has happened sporadically in motion on city streets and the car has been back to the dealer (VW world nptune NJ) several times. First time they could not replicate problem and nothing was done, second time they replaced several components at cost of $2,000 but that did not fix problem and now it back at dealer and they are asking another $1300 for repairs.

On initial acceleration, car hesitates and does not smoothly accelerate. This occurs whether the engine is cold or warm and occurs under light to moderate acceleration. Hesitation is accompanied by "stuttering sensation" and on occasion there is an actual delay from time of pressing the accelerator to actual launch of up to 3 seconds.
