Engine light started to blink and then the car turned off. I barely made it to the side of the road (the rear of the car was still in the car lane. Luckily I wasn’t driving on a freeway otherwise I wouldn’t have made it over to the side quick enough.
Called VW roadside assistance and car got towed 2 hours away to closest dealership. VW told me I had to find my own way to dealership after car was fixed and they would not get me a rental car.
Ends up the ignition coils failed. I received a letter from VW a few weeks week earlier telling me there was a recall on them but I could not take car to dealership until they contacted me first. Knowing the car failed on a recall item really made me mad. VW wouldn’t step up and get the car back to me instead of having to pay for a shuttle to drive me a few hours away (or pay for rental car while it was being fixed). I had to pay for a shuttle to drop me off at airport near dealership (LAS) and the dealership did have a courtesy car pick me up which was nice.
