After 3 trips to the dealership (Pickering VW in Ontario, Canada), mechanics continue to fail in fixing my "check engine" light. I've paid close to $800 overall to have this problem fixed and the light has been OFF for only about 10 minutes in the last 3 years. My car is now out of warranty and they're just shrugging their shoulders. The dealership was fine while still under warranty but they're close to being insulting now that I pay full price for everything. Along with a general warning about electrical problems in the Golf, I would also recommend avoiding the Pickering VW dealership for repairs. The costs are astronomical and the service, well, you know.
