I realized that the steering wheel stiffens up in a straight position if driving at higher speeds (above 55MPH) on straight roads with good pavement on little traffic. It feels like, that the steering wheel locks in this straight position and a relative huge resistance has to be overcome to get the car back on track. Once this resistance is overcome the car veers out of direction. This issue was also realized by a friend of mine after driving for 5min without prior notice of this issue. I arranged an appointment with Parkway Volkswagen Valencia CA Service for checking my steering. When I picked up the car after service the service manager told me that they couldn’t duplicate the steering issue (of course they couldn’t duplicate it in Santa Clarita at low speeds in traffic and bad paved roads). The manager stated that he drives the same car, it feels exactly the same and the computer also said that there is no issue. The question if they would also want to duplicate the issue if a customer comes in with issues with the brakes I didn’t receive an answer. I drove away from the dealer still with major concerns as my steering was still abnormal. I have this issue until today and I am still concerned that my steering fully malfunctions one day.
