I just purchased a brand new Golf Sportwagen with panoramic sunroof - I noticed some water damage on the inside interior of my car near the sunroof. Knowing I had never left it open, I began researching and found out that there was a lawsuit against VW for faulty sunroofs. Drains get clogged and allows water to come inside your vehicle. I had 3500 miles on it - I don't park near trees, and have never had a sunroof do this is all my years of owning a car with one. It should never be compromised by leaves falling on top of my car! It's a car!
I took it to the dealership assuming it would be covered under warranty, and was told it wasn't. They went back to VW and got it approved due to my mileage, but again, it should never be a problem regardless of mileage. The car manual states it should be checked every 2 years/40k miles.. again, I've had it 3 months and 3500 miles. Totally ridiculous. The car is poorly engineered and shouldn't be allowed on the roads. I will definitely be filing a complaint with anyone who will listen. VW clearly has a history with trying to pull one over on it's consumers.. emissions, panoramic sunroof issues, etc.
