After purchasing the vehicle certified pre-owned with 6K miles on it, I've had some repeated issues, most of which were covered under warranty, however still bothersome considering it a like new car. The transmission was the last stop.
I understand that putting 60k miles on a vehicle in 3 years is significant, but I don't think there's a manufacturer in the world that would advertise a full transmission replacement 6k miles outside of drivetrain warranty coverage. AS A CAVEAT, the Volkswagen dealership I took it to for service were upstanding in getting the replacement covered under warranty, despite being 4k miles out of coverage, but if I were to guess, that would be to cover their reputation and not my well-being.
That being said, I expect that as more vehicles cross this mileage threshold, the DSG transmissions will continue to become troublesome in shockingly low time of use. Go with a manual if you're truly in the love with the car. Save yourself the headache.
