There appears to be an ongoing issue with the fuel tank and evap system for the different version of the Golf that dates back to at least 2015 (VW has issued a recall notice for 2015-2016 model years). My daughter's car only has 31,000 miles and has other issues such as water pump replacement (also a known issue for some time). Why has VW not fixed the design of these components after all these years? Where is the so-called excellence in German engineering? I believe the same fuel tank/evap system is used in my 2018 S3. I am not sure if I would buy another VW family car.
