About These NHTSA Complaints:
The NHTSA is the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. See the Back button — blue bar at the very top of the page — to explore more.
My fiance's vehicle has the common clockspring issue which rendered all electrical components of the steering wheel inactive (horn, cruise control, air bag, and radio controls). One day she started the car and saw the check engine light come on. I scanned the vehicle and it had the known "B10001 driver airbag igniter: Resistance too high" code. The dealer thought it would be covered so long as it had the correct code but vwoa denied it. This has been a very well known issue and her vehicle should qualify under the recall/extended warranty. She was denied because her VIN was not on the list even though her vehicle has the exact same parts as others which do qualify. Her vehicle had the same codes required on NHTSA pdf https://www.google.com/url?sa=T&source=web&rct=J&url=https://static.NHTSA.gov/ODI/tsbs/2018/mc-10149942-9999.pdf&ved=2ahukewizwqzok_roahxjgjqihu3cbwaqfjabegqicxah&usg=aovvaw3qkzufksvtkalrokuek92M I recieved a warranty extension for my 2017 gti but for some reason the Golf sportwagen is not covered. Seems ridiculous to only cover some models that have same hardware when all should be covered.
