Jetta EX 3.2L

  • Manual transmission
  • 85,000 miles

My previous Jetta didn't need the clutch replaced (1986) until it reached 225,000 miles, but this 1991 model died at 85,000 miles. Is this a built in defect? Like I have a spare $850 to spend with a kid in college!
