The contact owns a 2001 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact noticed smoke rising from the dashboard. The vehicle was taken to the dealer in November of 2007, where it presently remains. The clock spring was replaced. The most recent diagnostic indicated that the primary failure was the wiring harness and would cost $2,300 to replace. The manufacturer was unable to assist. The current and failure mileages were 97,000. The consumer stated took the vehicle to a private mechanic german auto repair and the vehicle was repaired at the tune of $1896 + $300 deductible.
