My VW also leaks water. I have spent thousands trying to fix it (at one point it leaked everywhere) and it is now un-fixable. The water leaking into the driver's compartment has damaged the engine computer and now the check engine light is always on. The car can only go up hills at 20 MPH (and I live in Seattle where it rains and has lots of hills.)

I bought this car because it's a diesel and was hoping to drive it over 200,000 miles. But, as soon as I can afford to buy another car, I will get rid of it. I will never buy another Volkswagen.

I gave this issue a "5" due to the fact that the issue with my Jetta is beyond a "common" problem among owners of this particular make & model, there are even several concurrent years with this exact defect! I am furious that Volkswagon has yet to issue a recall on this issue! Its a shame, because I loved Volkswagon, and was even loyal.

As safety goes, body structure integrity wise, during a crash, hands down its one of the best in my book!! I survived a highway crash(70 mph), with NO SEATBELT on (I always wear ! now), not only did I live, but the garage who towed my car, later told me that if it weren't for jaws of life having to be used, the car could of been salvaged! . He claimed that any other car, I likely wouldn't be here.

But, all these little issues that keep happening add up to such an ongoing pain in the ass, and to boot, despite thousands upon thousands of complaints by owners, same one over and over, they can't take responsibility & resolve these issues? With our country in such an economic mess, I say we ban them from delivery on there cars until they own their cars issues. This is an ongoing issue with Volkswagon, so many issues, so little recalls. They seldom step up to plate, if something happens, it's the consumer that ALWAYS pays for their mistakes.

I find VW to be a solid car as far as crash safety, but everything around you will be falling apart. Between the cup holder that WIILL break on you, mark my words. To the radio that I was warned would break, which it HAS stopped working, they call it "fuse 42 issue" I discovered through researching my window track problems. Countless thousands have reported the exact same problems over & over. All these problems, all these people, yet no recalls. They need to step up to the plate and deal with all of them! Or they shouldn't be allowed to ship anymore of their defective cars here.Not until they make the ones that are already here, free of all these minor defects, by issuing some long over due recalls. Granted, most are considered "minor" defects, but with SO many of them, they all adds up to ONE GIANT defect in with their cars.

This would be a different review if I had to pay out of pocket for this repair, but was lucky to be under the standard warranty still. I was told that the windows breaking and shattering in the door panel was a pretty common occurrence in Texas by the dealer mechanic. Apparently, the clips that hold the windows up are made of a plastic that is not used to withstand the Texas heat in the summer and become brittle and break, thus shattering the window into the door panel. Lovely.

It was never recalled that I know of.... yet a common occurrence at least here in Texas. So thanks VW for not taking responsibility for this and placing it on your clients. Had it been just a little later I would have had to pay out of pocket for this.
