Went to VW because all the windows in vehicle were wet. They said it was because I had water in the vehicle and must have been thru high water and would cost approx $500 or more to take out carpet and dry out vehicle. I explained the vehicle sat in my driveway and I'm on a cul-de-sac and even with the very heavy rain and cold water did not come up my drive way. They insisted I was wrong.
Finally found an article about a law suit about VW sunroofs problem of water in the car and causing electrical problems. Took vehicle to VW dealership and spoke to the director of service & parts. Told him we were called liars and also gave him copy of the article I read about the sunroof. Buddy said he was not aware of the Sunroof problem on Jetta's and did not know about the article. However, since we were going to sell the vehicle since we cannot afford two vehicles he would try and help us to fix the problem. They have had the vehicle since beginning of April. Last conversation was that they need to replace the battery, could not remove the drivers seat or move it, a/c not working. They ran a water hose over sunroof for 30 minutes and no water in car, however, they could not slide the sunroof open. Buddy said it would cost approx $4000 to fix the vehicle. Told him if I did not have the $500 back in January I can't afford the repairs.
He suggested I might be able to sell vehicle AS IS for the purpose of just getting around since it runs. Also, said maybe contact my insurance company, since the repairs are around $4000 and the KBB value was about $6000 they may total it and pay me book value. I mentioned that before the 50,000 miles I came into the dealership and was told I could purchase a VW factory warranty for $2700 which we did. Buddy then said he would look into the warranty.
Since the dealership screwed up and cause more problems with the vehicle, I believe they should purchase the vehicle and pay KBB value of good condition since if they would have looked at the sunroof and checked the drains in January 2014, I would be able to sell the vehicle.
