About These NHTSA Complaints:
The NHTSA is the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. See the Back button — blue bar at the very top of the page — to explore more.
While idle car rumbles and shakes, while accelerating or decelerating car shakes (front end). My fueling system is terrible it seems as if gas sometimes doesn't get to my car it stales very often while driving or braking and accelerating again. Terrible electrical problems. Trunk will not open front light and brake lights work when they want to. When the heater is on it makes loud noise and tick even with the A/C on it does the same thing. While turning it stales and then take off really fast.

The transmission is terribly made. There is also an issue with the fuel injection that does not allow the car to receive the correct fuel as well as the gas tank. The car jerks because of the gas tank and the codes read ad if the cap needs to be replaced but the whole gas tank needs to be replaced.

I am reporting a safety concern for Volkswagen Jetta 2005.5. my Jetta recently started having brake problems due to the master brake cylinder on 8/4/2017 I had to force my car off the road from hitting multiple vehicles due to the master brake cylinder failing. Volkswagen is very aware of this issue I have done research in found complaints as well as recalls but was told they couldn't help me the fuel line has also failed after replacing it causing a gas smell through out the vehicle when starting after pumping gas. I recently started having problems with the valve body damaged this is a big safety concern for my self in others who own the same vehicle the valve body damaged causes the car to slip in heavy traffic leading up to a car accident. I have done research and Volkswagen is aware of this issue with complaints they did add extended warranty to end 100,000 miles. Back in 2005 leading up to 2014 there are multiple 2005.5 Jettas around nashville with the same issues. But Volkswagen will not help fix the problem of the safety of there customers

For the past year I have taken my car to VW shops and highly rated top VW shops in la. My car was dying if I didn't drive it ever day. I had my car in the shop for over a month and after doing electrical checks, giving me an alternator, replacing countless batteries the problem is still to this day unsolved.in the past 6 months things have become worse and can lead to an accident if not fixed. My car has been decelerating while I am driving on the road, it happens at all different speeds and is random. The car will lock up so that I can not make it pick up speed when it starts decelerating and then out of no where it will work again but instead of letting me gradually increase the speed it blasts off in an uncontrollable manner. This is very dangerous and I have tried to get this fixed and diagnosed but no one not even VW has any idea what is happening because every time I take it to the shop it somehow doesn't happen. Now in the past week my car is taking it to the next level with the deceleration and acceleration but on top of that now it is just dying while I am driving it after doing the jerky thing. I literally was driving on the hwy and it jerked a couple of times and then the car just died while driving and the brakes and steering wheel locked up. I was able to get to the shoulder but it was absolutely terrifying and I could have been killed! the battery light came on and I turned off the car. When I tried to turn it back on it started up like nothing happened. I then tried to drive to safety but it would die over and over again. I just found out about this site and I decided to read some reports. Turns out there are 100S of other cases just like mine. Why then does VW act like they have no idea whats wrong with my car. Apparently the only way you can get them to do something about it is to have a tragedy! something needs to be done. Please help!!!!

Fuse box on the top of the battery caught fire and melted the fusible link from the alternator to the battery connect. Going at 40 miles per hour and car shuts off, no brakes no power all electrical systems off dash lit up like christmas tree. Thank god for the ditch and that we weren't on interstate otherwise someone could have been killed or injured such as my pregnant wife.

Engine continually would not start with numerous documented car electrical the problem is a Volkswagen faulty electrical design caused my wiring to burn up as a result when they placed the wiring fuse box on top of the battery causing both heat and chemical corrosion stress on the vehicles's electrical systems. Currently, no pun intended, the vehicle is unsafe to repair or drive what should I do? I cannot safely repair the car and sell it to an unsuspecting would-be owner nor does the local VW want to help me out thanks

Driving on interstate vehicle suddenly lost all power just like ignition turned off. Almost was rear ended due to sudden slowing down. Had to pull over to left lane on very busy interstate because I was in carpool lane. Had limited shoulder area to stop. No power steering or brakes. Once stopped tried to start engine. It would turn over but not start. Continued attempts caused engine pressure warning. Had to be towed from busy interstate left lane. Now the car has failed like this while on the road 3 times. There is no warning or indication of failure. Car just dies. All three incidents where while driving down the road. 2 were on hills near stop sign and I had to roll vehicle back around other cars to safe place.

My 2005 VW Jetta gli stalled suddenly while I was driving @ 35-mph. After pulling over and opening the hood to assess damage, I turned the ignition key but all I heard was the starter being engaged. Once the car was towed to an independent repair shop, the technician informed me the timing belt broke/snapped. I was skeptical because my owner's manual says timing belts should be replaced at 110,000 miles according to VW's recommended maintenance schedule. During repairs, the technician said that my valves were bent because the 1.8T is an interference engine which means that cams, rockers and lifters must be removed in order for the cylinder head to be sent to a machine shop for additional repairs. Total costs = $3,865.66. There was a class action lawsuit against VW timing belts but I was denied reimbursement by the administer/custodian claims were no longer accepted after 2009. I spoke with [xxx] at VW customer service 1-800-822-8987 who said there are no timing belt recalls for my vehicle. Please investigate this concern and see other identical complaints at www.topix.com/forum/autos/Volkswagen/T33rhdpdvbrpo8D2P/P3 for more information.
