This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Volkswagen dealer.
Engine light keeps coming on and it stays on, no one can tell me why. The dash board flashes gears and the car just stops while its driving

I bought a new 2006 VW Jetta 2.0T. Had no problems for the first 20,000 miles. Took it to dealer to have tires rotated. They installed an update for the engine computer. A couple of miles down the road the check engine light comes on. Took it back to the dealer which took about 3 weeks to get in, They cleared the code and said I'm good to go.
A couple of days later the check engine light came back on. Took it back to dealer again and they said the intake manifold runner control motor needed to replaced. Apparently there is supposed to be a redesigned part to fix it. I've waited 2 months now for the part to come in. My check engine light is constantly on. Called dealer for status update and they said they had no idea when new part will arrive. Possible by the end of the year. I had no problems before the computer update. Why should I have to put up with a problem like this? I spent $28,000 for a new car, there should be not a damn thing wrong with it. I will probably trade it off in the next couple of months. I knew I should have bought a Honda instead.

The manifold was damaged (somehow was cracked) and had vacuum leaks and gaskets were replaced. I have never had a vehicle with so many mechanical issues.
