Vehicle comes equipped with a 6 speed automatic transmission with manual mode(non-DSG). Vehicle exhibits a slight clunking and small jerk when deccelerating from highway speed to about 30-40mpph, at which point engine speed drops about 750rpm. Seems to coincide with the trans downshifting during decceleration. However, of all the automatic equipped vehicles I've driven, have never felt this. Possibly normal, however worth nothing anyway. Transmission also operates rough during acceleration in sub freezing and near freezing temps, holds gears longer than normal and doesn't seem to want to upshift until higher revs.

I bought this car used from the original owner, thought it would be great buy for this kind of mileage, 79K. I tested car, everything was perfect. After I had the car, I found out the transmission will slip down roughly and jerking strongly after the car was driven for a while and the transmission was hot. I took it to a local mechanics shop and they did not know how to change the transmission fluid for this type of car. I found out from the local Volkswagen that they would charge $380 just to change the transmission fluid. It’s a robbery. So I paid $214 for the special fluid, filter and gasket, searched instructions on how to change the transmission fluid. The transmission fluid was very very dirty and should have been replaced long time ago.
After the fluid change, it still slipping down hard when the transmission hot. This car, 2007 Volkswagen Jetta Wolfsburg, had a Japanese automatic transmission. I was wondering why the German manufacturer was so ignorant about this simple maintenance requirement and neither put a dip stick nor suggested service in their owner’s manual.
Now I have to live this this and throw away the $5K I paid for.
