i hear noise and it hurts my ears while i am driving

I just got this car and every time I drive it there is a noise that car is making most likely from engine since you sit beside it. It really bothers my ears and even when I get out of the car the noise does not go away for a few minutes. I have read the complaints and no one has mentioned anything like this. My husband says it is just me. Who knows?????
