Hoses for the sunroof drains not sealed properly. Water leaks into passenger compartment. Fills spare tire well, rusting the jack and tools making it hard to use if needed. Water also runs down a pillar (where there is an airbag) and then over (soaking) the fuse box on the side of the dashboard. Then it runs down the plastic trims and leaks onto the feet of the driver soaking the floor mat. The wet fuse box and airbag seems dangerous. Date first noted and mileage are guesses. I know of many other Jetta sportwagens that have this issue.

When it rains the drains in the Volkswagen Jetta get clogged up. Once the drains get clogged the water comes inside the interior of the car into the entire floor of the car. The floor is then flooded with water. Their has been a previous lawsuit that was settled for the previous VW models 97-05 in 2014. When the car was sold to me no one notified me of this problem and how to prevent this problem. Now my local VW dealership wants to charge me 1000 for this problem which should not be a problem from the first place.

The contact owns a 2009 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated that the steering wheel cover slip in the air bag horn area was defective and the contact was concerned that the air bag would erroneously deploy. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000 and the current mileage was 71,000. Updated 08/27/13 the steering air bag cover also served as the horn contact area I.e. the consumer had to press the air bag cover to activate the horn. The steering wheel air bag cover was splitting in multiple areas due to horn usage I.e pressing on the cover to activate the horn. The steering wheel air bag cover should withstand a lifetime of use without failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue, but they refused to replace the steering wheel airbag which included the cover. Updated 08/29/13 updated 09/24/13
