While driving on a city street, my car began to make a rumbling sound, followed by a engine warning message turning on. Within a minute, my car died and would not restart. We towed our 2009 VW Jetta sportwagen tdi to a VW specialized mechanic who confirmed that there were metal shavings in the fuel system that seems to be resulting from a hpfp failure. Mileage was at 131769 at time of failure. (outside of the extended warranty time period for the hpfp issue) 12/21/2012 two faulty rear passenger seat belts were replaced. Airbags had not been deployed and car had not been in an accident prior to seat belts breaking.

I think there is an electrical problem with my car. Since the beginning of this yr 2015 my seats burnt a hole threw the seat and my clothes. I no longer use the heated seats cause I am afraid my car will catch on fire. Also my I have a light go out every time I replace a light. First a head light then a blinker light then a tail light next the licenses plate light and currently another front light. This has been over the last 6-8 mons.

When getting my daughter out of her booster seat in our sportwagen tdi, the rear seat belt stopped retracting. I played around to get it to retract, but it still wouldn't, so now the belt is totally useless as it is too loose on my daughter and there is no guarantee it will even work in the event of a crash. I took the car to the dealer today, and they confirmed that there is something wrong with the retracting mechanism in the belt and it must be replaced. He also could tell that the defect wasn't caused by a child jamming something into the belt as it is in a part of the mechanism that is completely sealed and can't be accessed without removing body panels. While I'm thankful this happened when parked, I shudder to think what would have happened to my daughter in the event of a crash with a defective belt. I understand that the safety equipment in a car might need to be replaced in the event of a collision, but the seat belt should be the one piece of equipment in any car that should not just randomly break when the car has never been involved in any incident.

I have 2009 Volkswagen Jetta 2.5 and I have problems with my cars. 1) all my lights, except for the left side of headlight, are not working. All the lights went out at the same time. I changed the bulbs but still do not work. 2) since lights started to not work, I get seat belt warning signs and alarms even if I am wearing the seatbelts. 3) when I try to wash my front window with the wipers, window washier(liquid) would not come out.

I am not reporting a type of impact / incident. What I am reporting is a complaint / concern about a manufacturer (Volkswagen) denying a claim I have presented to them for repair / replacement of a rear safety belt. I recently purchased the VW Jetta sportwagen and brought it immediately to a VW franchise dealer for repairs to the seatbelt (the car is 4 years old, so it was my assumption that the manufacturer would repair or replace the safety concern at no cost to me). I have two young children, so the vehicle is not even legal for me to drive in its current condition. VW has only stated that the car is outside the "standard factory warranty" and refuses to take any responsibility for the safety concern. They have further given absolutely no diagnosis to the problem. I am dumbfounded that a manufacturer can refuse to pay for a safety belt on a 4 year old vehicle. Please let me know if the NHTSA can assist.

On four separate occasions, the rear seatbelts have locked in the fully withdrawn position and will not retract, requiring complete mechanism replacement. This occurred initially after purchase on a road trip with our kids, then recently again on both sides, and again just a week ago. On all but the most recent occurrence were replaced at no charge by VW. The most recent occurrence makes us believe this is a true defect in the mechanism. VW has not, to my knowledge, acknowledged any defect or made a revision to the part. The safety concern is that the belt will lock and not retract during transit, endangering my passengers in the event of an accident.

Purchased a new '09 VW Jetta sdn 2.5 L S and the second day I had it, I had to take to service dept. The door seal from drivers door was coming off, the car would smell like burning plastic and I noticed after 3rd trip ( in 2 days ) the rear brakes were "glowing" red hot. They said they could figure it out and said it may be a plastic coating they put on brake pads to keep rust from building up on the ship overseas! after the brakes constantly squeaking and having to take my new car in 2 more time with every excuse known to man, I was mistakenly told it was a defect and they changed them at no charge. My brakes are again going out and it has only been about 6-9 months. The concern is that they have not fixed the root of the problem as well as a seat belt indicator which has been faulty. I have had them make me take it in 3 times for that ( first time they couldn't duplicate the problem, so I was told to bring it in again ) and one passenger side was replaced but it is still happening and I fear that the combined brake and seat belt/ airbag issues could be dangerous! also troubling is in the last few months the drivers side rear door would not unlock by any means for on 3 occasions (the last which I called VW service to make an appointment for and never got a return phone call) the last time it was unusable door for 2 weeks then just started working again. It has not been attended to, but my fear is again, in a accident if someone was back there they may get trapped in car.
