problem #5

Jetta SE 2.5

  • Automatic transmission
  • 166,000 miles

Transmission refused to properly engage in 4th gear, then 5th and 6th followed suit. Took it to a shop and they thought it might be the valve body. They replaced that and it still had issues. Then they tore apart the transmission and the clutch plates in the torque converter where smoothed out. It is currently at the shop still getting the torque converter rebuilt.

Jetta SE 2.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 134,000 miles

The issue is with my car is still not fixed. Took in my car for slipping into 4th gear issue while driving. Auto repair tech told me I needed a transmission flush services and fuel injection service. The car started slipping a bit going into 4th gear. The mechanic suggested a new transmission pan gasket and VW transmission fluid fill. They dropped the transmission oil pan found metal on the magnet and in fluid. Once the service was done my VW Jetta continue with a slip and engine light turned on two days later. The mechanic recommended a transmission overhaul, but I am researching other options at this point.

Jetta SE 2.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 65,000 miles

Driving home on the Interstate...got off an exit and the RPM's went way up but the car wouldn't shift out of first gear. Tried all sorts of solutions and it just went completely limp and all the gear selector lights lit up like the car didn't know which gear it was in. Had it towed to the dealer and they said there was something wrong in the programming, they fixed it for $50...thank goodness!
